Album Notes
Annie has studied Hindustani music and spent considerable time singing and playing harmonium, but she does not consider herself a musician—and she has no intention of portraying herself as such. She teaches Yogic sciences and Yogic lifestyle. Prompted by her students, she has created two CDs ("Ekam" meaning first, and "Dve" meaning second). Dve is a mostly-raw recording of traditional Sanskrit shlokas and devotional chants.

Annie's musical expression stems from decades of Yogic studies and practices—largely in India—which morphed into a life of grateful service in the West.

Beauty and purity come out in the music when "she" is not the doer, when she can at least temporarily step out of her own way. If these recordings can bring a glimpse of peace and clarity to even a few fellow human beings, her intention will be fulfilled.

This recording is offered with gratitude to and inspiration from: Aunti-ji, Guruji, the Haidakhandi Babaji family and the global Ashtanga community.

Annie is the founder of Shakti Sharanam in Crestone, Colorado, a small school dedicated to upholding and exemplifying traditional Yogic practices and contemporary sustainability. Go to www.shaktisharanam.com for more information.

Stunning recording of traditional chants and Shlokas
I absolutely love "Dve" ! The simplicity and raw-ness of this recording, as well as the subtlety of the harmonium brings out Annie's voice beautifully. This combination really adds to the beauty of the actual shlokas/chants. Since I purchased the album, I have not stopped listening to it and I can highly recommend this album to anyone who is interested in hearing traditional and beautiful shlokas/chants from India.
