Album Notes
The Anthony Fung Quintet consists of five remarkably talented musicians who have distinguished themselves as accomplished musicians in the Boston area.

Anthony Fung, now 21 years old, began playing the drums at the age of ten in his hometown of Richmond Hill, Ontario.
During his high school years, Anthony was exposed to the works of Miles Davis and John Coltrane, which he later found instrumental in the development of his sound. Throughout his high school years, Anthony was chosen to participate in many workshops and bands including the Berklee Five-Week Workshop and the Next Generation Jazz Orchestra. In the fall of 2011, Anthony moved to Boston to study jazz performance at Berklee College of Music on a full scholarship. Currently, Anthony is a member of the Berklee Global Jazz Institute, where he studies under the mentorship of Danilo Perez, John Patitucci, Ben Street, Joe Lovano, and George Garzone. Anthony has played at the Paris Conservatory, the Toronto Jazz Festival, and the Jazz Education Network (JEN).

Edmar Colón Gierbolini is a 21-year-old tenor saxophonist from Coamo, Puerto Rico. Since beginning his studies at Berklee, Colón has been chosen for the prestigious Berklee Global Jazz Institute with artistic director Danilo Pérez. He has had the opportunity to perform with artists such as Joe Lovano, John Patittucci, Danilo Pérez, Miguel Zenón, Dave Liebman, George Garzone, Lionel Loueke, salsa stars Luis Enrique and Ismael Miranda, and Ivan Lins.

Mao Sone was born and raised in Tokyo, Japan. He was granted a full scholarship to attend the prestigious Berklee College of Music where he studies Tiger Okoshi. At 2012, he performed at the Japanese consulate in Massachusets celebrating the Japanese emperors birthday as a solo trumpeter. From 2013, he joined the Berklee Global Jazz Institute, performed in jazz festivals both domestic and foreign, such as the “Jazz Education Network” in Kentucky, the “Monterey Jazz Festival” in California, the “Bean Town Jazz Festival” in Boston, Massachusetts and also collaborated with musicians such as Joe Lovano.

Pianist Kyumin Shim is from Seoul Korea has been studying at Berklee with a scholarship under great teachers such as Joanne Brackeen, Danilo Pérez, Ed Tomassi, and Hal Crook, just to name a few. He has also performed at the Newport Jazz Festival, Toronto Jazz Festival, Montreal Jazz Festival, Martha's Vineyard Jazz Festival, and Smalls Jazz Club.

Jonny Chapman is an acoustic bassist from Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. In May 2012, Jon received the grand-prize award in a competitive scholarship audition, the Kando Award at MusicFest Nationals. Jon currently studies at Berklee College of Music in Boston with a full-tuition scholarship. During his time at Berklee College of Music, he has had the opportunity to study privately and in ensemble with the likes of John Patitucci, Eddie Gomez, Hal Crook, among notable others.
