Album Notes
'The Words and Music of Anthony J. Quinn' consists of 20 songs, 16 of which were included on his two albums 'In A Foreign Part Of The Town' and 'Old Hat's Return' Three songs from his first album have been completely re-recorded and several from his second album re-edited and re-mixed. There are also two previously unrecorded songs 'Sister June' and 'I Shall Meet You In The Open Country' and performances by Jean Crompton and Moira Witter. The final mastering of all the songs was completed at Tonewood Recording Studio in Liverpool by Mark Reader where 'Old Hat's Return' was recorded.
Little is know about the reclusive, misanthropic singer/songwriter and poet. He reputedly resides in Widnes a town on the banks of the River Mersey some 10 miles from Liverpool. He rarely plays live but there is footage of him on youtube performing unplugged versions of some songs from 'The Words and Music' and also covers of Bruce Springsteen's 'Thunder Road' and Queen's 'Crazy Little Thing Called Love' Anthony was referred to as "The Ray Davies of Merseyside" in one music publication when 'Old Hat's Return' was originally released.
