Album Notes
Rod Stewart. Bette Midler. Anti-Social Music. Yes, YOUR cranky, crafty, contrarian, and cantakerous new music collective for the punks has joined the pantheon of the stars with the long-awaited completion of it's debut collection "ASM Sings The Great American Songbook"; a hooting, hollering grab-bag from the group most likely to get loaded on stage at Lincoln Center. And yes, this record was made possible in part by a grant from the Cary Trust.

Our concerts have featured members of Ida, the Hold Steady, Alarm Will Sound, Gutbucket, World/Inferno Friendship Society, the Hissyfits, Songs:Ohia; the bands of Elliott Sharp, Jabbo Ware, and Jon Langford; and the New Jersey Philharmonic, the NY Underground Orchestra, the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, New York City Opera, and so on and so on. No one in the group is simply a chamber-music lifer or a downtown-jazz snob or a punk rocker dabbling in the "legit music" world. You know, your basic New York scene eclectics.

Classical music with a twist.
Great work by this talented group. Keep up the good work!

Tamara Turner, CD Baby

Called "Punk Orchestra" by the NY Press, Antisocial music puts a whole new spin on the meeting of contemporary classical trends with rock and popular influences. A stunning collage of sound and ideas, their pieces are inexplicably bold and dynamic, in places programmatic enough in emotion to be a remarkably clever film score and in other places, beautifully splattered and random feeling, milking an avant garde animal for all its genius. But holding it all together is the consistently stunning and imaginative color, drama and personality. There is barely a moment to breathe for being on the edge of your seat. If you think you aren't one for classical music, you need to get your head out of the sand, put away the "dead white guy" albums momentarily and see what's going on with today's living composers.
