Album Notes
This is the 2nd album from New Orleans based singer Antoine Diel and the debut duo album with collaborator Sam Kuslan playing piano & organ. Songs cross genre's from traditional gospel music with classic religious songs.

This album was inspired by Antoine's childhood memories of hearing the voice of Mahalia Jackson and her dedication to singing the gospel and making a career devoted to that purpose.
The album is dedicated to his father Claro who requested that an album be created that reflected the music and message that nourished our family life. We hope that, even if you do not come from the same religious tradition that we came from, the music brings you joy and the heartfelt message and performance within touches your hearts and souls.

One of the perks of being a regular visitor to New Orleans is that once you've hit the "hot spots" and touristo destinations, you begin to find the places and attractions that the locals frequent. A few years ago, I happened upon Antoine Diel crooning standards in the outdoor area behind a wine bar buried deep in the Bywater. I was hooked. Here was a wonderful tenor, slight of stature but huge in vocal range, belting out covers of songs you just didn't hear in most places. I never go to the Crescent City now without catching one of his gigs. His first CD release, "On The Corner of Hope and New Orleans," mixed selections by Tom Waits and John Coots ("Louisiana Fairytale") on the same album, showing off not only Diel's vocal prowess but also his tremendous catalog of songs. "In My Father's House" is Antoine's second outing, and it's his personal tribute to the love, guidance, and musical upbringing he had from his parents. A selection of mostly praise songs and hymns, Diel once again comes through, with help on the keyboards from the wonderful Sam Kuslan. Antoine's voice is remarkable, but what really sets him apart is his expression; he really tells the story in the song. His soaring rendition of "The Lord's Prayer" and technical styling of "Amazing Grace" are enough to warm even this decidedly
agnostic reviewer's cynical heart. One need not be a True Believer to enjoy this CD; one need only to believe in the love put into the making of the album.
