Album Notes
Ara Dinkjian is best known as the founder of the highly influential and groundbreaking instrumental group, NIGHT ARK, which recorded four CDs for RCA/BMG and PolyGram/Universal. His compositions have been recorded in thirteen different languages by top singers and musicians throughout the world (including Eleftheria Arvanitaki and Sezen Aksu), proving that music is indeed the international language. His hit “Homecoming” (“Dinata Dinata”) was performed at the closing ceremonies of the 2004 Athens Olympics. Ara Dinkjian is also considered one of the top oud players in the world. He was chosen to represent the Armenians in the international oud festivals of Jerusalem and Thessaloniki. One of the most striking features of Dinkjian’s oud style is his uniquely beautiful tone.

"An Armenian In America" is Dinkjian's first solo CD. It was recorded live at the 2005 International Oud Festival in Jerusalem. The program showcases his oud playing and timeless compositions. He is accompanied by the world-class musicians Zohar Fresco on percussion and Adi Rennert on keyboards. Beyond category, Dinkjian continues to create his own unique musical landscape.

Beautiful tunes!
The music is awesome, BUT why the mp3 download is so crippled? 185 kbps is low quality these days. I see no reason why those files are not encoded at 320 kbps!!

An Armenian In America
Knowing and loving Night Ark for many years, and hoping for more albums, I was very happy to find this album. It is very besutiful and a gift to your heart and soul. My son thinks I´m a great mother introducing him to this music... I´m not so good in english, but I hope you understand.

It was a magical night and this is a truly magical CD!
You know that feeling, when you slowly go out of a concert that moved you like no other concert before, and you just wish you could listen to it all over again?! well, Ara Dinkjian's concert last year in Jerusalem was like that for me, and this CD, although not covering all of this gifted musician many colours, gives a wonderful sense of the feeling I had that night. If you like music that speaks to your heart, you should have this one.

This is such a terrific album of compositions that evoke a sense of familiarity and contentment. Very tastefully arranged and brilliantly played by the trio. Very fine Oud playing and timeless melodies.

soul as music
This CD is all soul...start to finish. It is rare to hear music so rapturously enveloped in and expressive of the depth, beauty and power of human spirit and soul. Every feeling is here. Listen in the darkness, listen in the sunlight, in your car, in your kitchen, celebrate, drink it all in....

A beautiful album from a very gifted and unique player/composer
I highly recommend this album to anyone who loves beautiful music. It's not just an oud album - it really doesn't fall under any one category.

Whatever you are mainly interested in musically, I think it will be hard not to like this release.
