ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
With a powerful distinct voice and an ability to......

Eritrean blooded Arig Mohammed Mussa Ferej was born on January 3rd in the city of Khartoum, Sudan. Her mother and father Fled the conflict of Eritrea and found shelter in Sudan whilst conceiving. Returning to Eritrea was not an option so they looked beyond the borders of their own continent towards the east. In an effort to better their lives Her parents applied for immigration to Australia. Unfortunately only her mother was granted the visa and along Arig was split from her father.

Arig touched down on Australian soil as a wide eyed 2 year old with her 17 year old mother in the early nineties.
Growing up in a single mother house hold with no income, in a crowded unit complex she observed and learnt the unfortunate traps and social short comings of such a situation. Arguments in the hallways, drug abuse and misdemenor were all a product of the low socio cutural context she had now been subject too. Amongst the chaos Arig found peace in a small bedroom, a hairbrush in place of a micrphone and a very big dream.

Arig’s young mother unguided handled toxic relationship after then next, creating a confusing and far from nuturing environment for Arig. The lack of stability and pain was trickled down on a regular basis, Negatively affecting Arig's perspective and self esteem.

Until the age of 9 Arig escaped the violence and hostility of her childhood through spending hours hidden away in her room writing songs and listening to the pop divas of the early 2000s. Little did she know this isolated time was imperitive in her ability to effortlessly express herself.

When she was 17 she heard a pianist playing on the streets of Brisbane, Anthony Aggs. She approached Aggs during a break in his set and from there formed a dear and pivotal friendship that would give her the confidence to refine her craft and aspire.

From the ages of 18 to 23 Arig dedicated her time and efforts into recording project after project without avail, she thought. In the few years of brooding she was oblivious to the blossoming of her own sound. Serindipdously she crossed path's with Imraan Palekar once twice and then the third time she knew it was an omen and only one could boil the encounter down to fate. A verse here, a chorus there, and an unmatched chemistry could only create what was to come.
one year later Attrition the EP was born. Marked as an affirmation to the mastery of Arig's ability and one to the world as a first official stand in music.
