Album Notes
The soothing vocals of Ms. Murray will invoke a variety of feelings in you. She has the unique ability to get inside a lyric, transforming it into a deep, emotional and personal expression of jazz.

Arlene Murray is extremely versatile. She can change the ambience and tempo of the music from swinging dance to easy listening for cocktails or dinner. Her songs encompass the unique styles of Shirley Horn, the longing ballads of Billie Holiday, to the playful sound of Astrud Gilberto.

Ms. Murray began singing at age five. She grew up in a family where music was part of their everyday life. She listened to her parents and uncles sing to the tunes of Frank Sinatra and Nat King Cole. In high school, she was the vocalist of her school band. Around that time, she was also learning how to play the guitar. After high school, she went directly to the Conservatory of Music at University of Santo Tomas in Manila, Philippines where she majored in Voice. She was also a vocalist in a seven-piece band called the Majestics where they played in nightclubs in Manila.

Arlene Murray’s international performance started in Fukuoka City, Japan. Her captivating performances attracted venues at leading Five-Star hotels in the Southeast Asian circuit that consisted of Hong Kong, Singapore, Bangkok and Tokyo.

Ms. Murray was the Resident Artist at the Hyatt Regency Hong Kong for seven years. In addition to her singing talent, she also worked as a model and an actress. She modeled for Alpha Romeo, Vidal Sassoon, Remy Martin, Matheus, Yves Saint Laurent, and Christian Dior. Her film appearances include MGM's Forced Vengeance directed by James Fargo starring Chuck Norris and a brief segment in Far East directed by John Duigan (Lawn Dogs, The Journey of August King, Sirens, Flirting, etc.) and foreign film Hotline.

Arlene Murray relocated to San Francisco in the early 80's and studied acting at the American Conservatory Theater. Afterwards, she landed a leading role on the stage play Eye of the Coconut written by Jeannie Barroga (an established San Francisco playwright). The play showcased Ms. Murray's love for singing, acting and dancing. She was also invited to become a member of the Actor's Equity Association (a private invitation and member’s only organization for professional actors).

The CD, Arlene Murray, debuted in 2000 after her hiatus from raising her children. In a brief statement, "Now that my daughters are grown and are able to fend for themselves…it's time that I follow my passion for music." The album is a collection of traditional standard songs.

Ms. Murray is also a painter and a writer who is a member of ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers). Her passion for life is depicted in her songs, artwork, and poetry that can be viewed on her official website:

Arlene is such a nice person besides being multi talented
Hi Arlene: Is a extraordinary, caring and is willing to help other artists grow. I'm so honored to know her even though it is in cyberland. Only someday to wish we have a chance to meet someday. This CD is a example of a multi talented person. She has such nice clear vocals. She is a perfectionist in everything she does. This is as good as it gets. I grew up listening to Jazz. My father worked in Copley Square, Jazz workshop in Boston. He brought home records of The Herb Pomeroy's Band, Buddy Rich, Billy Holiday, Frank Sinatra, Benny Goodman. Her paintings are awesome to. So Good luck and all the best to you Arlene. Lots Of Love: Cathy Alexander(NH)
