Album Notes
OWNLIFE, the new tour-de-force from Arthur Loves Plastic, opens sounding like Montana-flavored The Chemical Brothers on antibiotics, drawing influences from Kraftwerk and Avicii, with a knowing nod to (the criminally underrated) Brian Wilson.

OWNLIFE relies on the safe, universally beloved trick of chirpy, atonal jams that last for three minutes—for good reason: Stanton was writing this music in a motel room near the airport. Thus, OWNLIFE marks a musical turning point.

"Last Gasp of the Dinosaurs" echoes strains of a Breeders-esque soundscape, with a penchant for plaintive guitar soundscape and indulgent vocal reboot, while the harder-edged "Music Brings Me Joy" draws chem trails across the sky, reminiscent of Daft Punk on 4-Hour Energy Drink. However, Arthur Loves Plastic slows it down with "Swipe," turning the wet matches of tinder into intensely emotional, swirling, plaintive art-wave.
