Album Notes
As Faiscas is a group who met in an ancient stone tavern in Santiago de Compostela two years ago and have been playing together ever since. They concentrate on the songs group member Diana Lourido Vilar grew up singing, in the Galician seaside town of Corcubión, but have added songs from Sinead Connolly's native Ireland, and Molly Carr's America. They also play spirited dance tunes from those lands, as well as original tunes by Daniel Carr. As Faiscas means 'the embers' in Gallego, the language spoken in Galicia, which is the green, hilly province in northwestern Spain. The region has a rich and deep musical heritage, with Celitc, Latin, Arabic and pan european influences. As Faiscas do Galicia proud, and present music that is earthy, driving, enchanting and fun.
