ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
The Low Arc of the Sun is the latest work from Portland's Ashleigh Flynn, released on her own Home Perm Records. This EP was recorded on the winter solstice of 2014 in front of an intimate curated audience at the Secret Society Ballroom in Portland Oregon. The effort included some fine local musicians supporting the well-hewn tales spun by local troubadour Ashleigh Flynn – whose wish was to honor the coming of the light with a relevant song cycle.

Of note, Barrow is a song written about her quest to rekindle her late Grandfather’s spirit (the only other working musician in her family, who died of MS in Ireland) by following a footpath known as the Dingle Way to its most southwestern tip whereupon she had the good fortune to glimpse the summer solstice sunset as she pondered her bloodline, and the passage of time as marked by the coming and going of the light…

From her Vancouver Folk Festival Performance, a No Depression reviewer said “Sometimes all you need is a lot of talent, & a single microphone…Well done, Ashleigh Flynn...” From High Sierra Music Festival , JAMBASE said: “Everyone smitten with Lucinda, Patty and Gillian should immediately spin A Million Stars. At High Sierra, Flynn’s newest songs charmed the britches off folks.”

Of late, Flynn has performed at 30A Songwriters Fest 2016, Delfest 2015, High Sierra Music Festival 2015, Vancouver Folk Festival 2014, and toured the country both under her own name and as support for such notables as Todd Snider, the Wood Brothers, Billy Joe Shaver, and more - all with great reviews and a growing fan base!
