ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
A note from the artist:
When Ram Dass asked his teacher Maharaji how he'd be able to carry on in his spiritual work once he'd returned to the U.S. and was no longer in his physical company, Maharaji said, "It is very simple. Just love everyone, serve everyone, and remember God." Love, serve, and remember...the simplicity and profound message contained in these three words served as the inspiration behind the song of the same name that appears on this recording "Remembrance." May this song and the other titles on this album inspire you to remember the truth of who you are and to love and serve this world from that place of remembrance.

The Music of John Astin

John Astin's music takes me to a place where inspiration and creativity flow - to a place, in other words, that's divine.
--Larry Dossey, MD

John creates a musical vehicle of awesome beauty and pure spiritual intention that delivers the listener straight to the heart. He is a gift in the truest sense of the word- one of those rare souls with the ability to
reconnect us to the Divine Source.
-- Joan Borysenko, PhD

John's evocative songs are like a beautiful garland of remembrance, a musical call to awaken to the Truth of who we are and express that Radiance in the world.
--Ken Wilber

John Astin began his musical career at the age of seven. For the next 12 years, he studied classical guitar, a period highlighted by the five summers he attended the Aspen Music Festival. In Aspen, he was the youngest of the guitarists invited to perform in the master classes of the great Italian maestro Oscar Ghiglia (a protégé of Andres Segovia).

At the age of nineteen, John began his work as a singer/songwriter, and in 1982 released his first of eight recordings of original spiritual and contemplative music. His signature song, "Love, Serve, and Remember," has been recorded by a number of artists and is used (along with much of his other music) in workshops, spiritual retreats, and healing seminars around the world.

Along with his musical work, John holds a PhD in psychology. He is currently a research scientist at the California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco where he conducts cutting edge research in the field of mind-body medicine.

Mmmmmh, yumm!!! Probably my favorite New Age CD, due to the first song!
I only own 2 of John's CDs. I appreciate them both, but I adore this one! There are several songs that I could eat! And my ears and heart and soul do! I would highly recommend this. In my humblest oppinion, the first song is worth more than the purchase price. Supsequent songs just make the musical, mystical experience of John's equisite voice, lyricks and genious musical compositions that much sweeter and deeper!

One of the best CDs ever!
This CD allows me to remember who I really am. After just a few moments, I shift from that small space to a much higher perspective. What a gift! Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

Lovely, uplifting songs from the heart
I got this CD after singing along with Love, Serve & Remember at a retreat. Now, several songs on it are among my favorite pieces of spiritual music. Wings of Breath and and There Is a Light are also unlike anything else I've heard. I give this CD away to friends and anyone who may be open to its penetrating messages.

Remembrance is a beautiful gift to the soul.
John Astin's CD 'Remembrance' is a gift to the soul. As a psychotherapist I believe true healing takes place on a soul level and that my clients benefit by developing pathways directly to the soul. 'Love, Serve and Remember' is such a song, as well as 'There is a Light'. Thank you, John Astin. I'll be giving this CD to many people I love.

the songs the the ability to heal people in their littleness and brokenness.
I bought this CD after taking the Choosing Freedom from Sandy Levey together with my drug addicted daughter. I believe this CD should be in every Alcohol and Drug rehab Center. The music and words penitrate your heart like a ancient memory we have forgotten about. Since the Course and this CD my daughter has entered a 3 month treatment center on her own. All his music, every album
I've known John's music for 15 years or more--it's the best! I never tire of it--listen to it all the time, lifts me up, has healed a sad heart and lifted me out of sorrow when sorrow struck. If you are in for a real treat, go listen to John speak and or read his book--wonderful, amazing, so gentle. He's a "must see".
is a must for any music lover.
