Drawing on influences such as the rootsy front-porch sounds of Van Morrison and the spiraling cries of Jeff Buckley, The Astral Force has lit up Bay Area stages such as Bottom of the Hill, El Rio and many others since forming in late 2008. The band began as an umbrella for the soul stylings of vocalist and guitarist Adam Schraft, a prolific songwriter and bandleader on the eclectic San Francisco scene. Having previously collaborated with artists ranging from acclaimed Bay Area art rockers Here Are The Facts You Requested to international underground hip-hop heads NonGenetic of ShadowHuntaz and Japanese MC Riowari, Schraft began writing a new batch of songs that required like-minded musicians to fulfill his new genre-bridging sonic vision. He found them by joining forces with the experimental jam-rock explorations of Perkins and Racine, which were given a boost by the Latin, jazz and dub-infused rhythms of Walsh’s drumming. The Astral Force draws all types of music fans in close, with a raw emotional honesty that makes hearts pound and eyes shine like punch-drunk love.
