CD REVIEW by Bluesbunny.com (Independent Music Reviews)

This album wastes no time in getting started. Athena Marie comes straight out of the traps with the acerbic "So Long, Goodbye". It is immediately made clear that she is going to get - and keep - your attention.

Not that it all full on bad attitude. "Ugliest Girl" certainly does not miss the mark but "Miss Me" is pure sing-along stadium rock. It has to be said that there is an air of menace in some the songs but that does not make them any less appealing. "Crying" is a sharply observed commentary on the loneliness that we all feel inside sometimes whilst "Show Me the Way to Heaven" takes us on a rollicking, redneck trip to hillbilly heaven. "Keep on Rollin'" could easily have fallen out of the Bangles' back catalogue. Her best vocal performance comes on the album's closing ballad "Goodbye" when she shows a tenderness not evident from the "in your face" nature of the other songs on the album.

In fact, given the lyrics and the lack of filler tracks, we would classify this as a low sugar, low fat album and therefore good for your health. It should be consumed regularly for maximum benefit.

Athena Marie writes intelligent, hummable songs that would bless the airwaves. Ably supported by Dan Marfisi, she has actually managed to put our dysfunctional lives to music. That is quite an achievement. BluesBunny has a well known fondness for loud guitars and he was very satisfied after listening to this album. The album is available to buy from CD Baby.

Great Music
Athena - You rock. I hear myself singing and humming "Show me The Way To Heaven" in the car, the shower, and at staff meetings when the boss is talking - I might be addicted! "Oh Lord come save me from the life that I've created, yeah..."

spunky, contagious, a true talent of musicianship and songwriting
As soon as I received the CD, my family and I were rockin' out by dancing and banging our heads! The music made us feel great! There is such a collection of different styles on this CD, so unlike any other artist... you can tell Athena is a truly gifted singer/songwriter/musician I am sure we will be hearing the songs from this CD in Movies, Commercials, TV and on the radio. BRAVO!! That night, all I could hear in my mind was "if only I could, if only I could" so contagious, infectious!! I LOVE IT! The song Cryin' is so mellow and beautiful I actually cried listening to it! Athena writes, plays and sings from the heart, I recommend this CD to all ages and all styles of music lovers out there.. you will be singing a long very quick! THIS CD ROCKS!!

I've had this cd for a couple of weeks & love it. It's on repeat play in my car. I find myself singing the songs throughout the day. Very Catchy!! My favorite songs are Are You Listening and If Only I Could. The words speak to me...I can feel her emotions through the words. I got 4 of them to hand out as extra Christmas gifts & everyone loves it.

Athena Marie has always written fun, catchy tunes. I've been a fan of Athena's through her many endeavors and always find myself singing her songs for days on end after I've given them a listen. Infectious Pop Rock...I can't get it out of my head...!!! She sings from a powerful woman's standpoint and leaves you wanting to hear more. Athena's voice is powerful, sexy, soft and sweet all in one package. I'm so glad she decided to put this cd out just in time for the holidays...it's a great stocking stuffer for anyone who enjoys fun, solid pop rock! ...If only I could....I'd do it for you....(singing along now....)
