ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Auralis composed this album as a retrospective music representation of his past life. The recent anniversary of the First World War left an indelible impression on Auralis who started researching the fife of his late grandfather who had served in the trenches for four years, as a Gordon Highlander, and who had survived the terrifying trauma of the catastrophic killing fields.
Track 1 - "Over The Top" is an example of Auralis' compositional talent. Here the composer has tried to evoke in music impressionism what it must have been like to leave the trenches and charge the enemy into "no-man's" land where the bombardment of shells and bullets took their toll decimating whole regiments. Track 2 - "James Anderson (1sr World War Soldier)" is a lament and tribute to his grandfather. Listen out for the brilliant violin solo played by the leader of the Auralis Session Orchestra Bernard Williams. The rest of this brilliant album is semi-biographical as can be heard in Track 3 - "Elegy" and Tracks 10 - "The Girl From Sardinia" and Track 11.- "ARI Foresterhill Hospital Tribute", where Auralis was treated successfully for prostrate cancer. - Notes by Peter Wright (Arranger & Orchestrator)
