Album Notes
Auralis told me that he had been a session free-lance trombonist when he first started out and that the piano was a secondary instrument for him. He said that he only used it for working out arrangements and to write music. I had heard him inprovise on the instrument and thought otherwise and persuaded the composer to dust down the keys and open the lid of the grand. After practising his scales and arpeggios for a month, during which time Auralis arranged the music for this album, he was ready to perform his own music. I was not wrong. Auralis is a brilliant pianist as can be heard on this beautifully crafted album of mostly original compositions. The only piece not composed by Auralis is: 'Amazing Grace', but even here, Auralis takes poetic music licence and adds in eight bars to enhance the tune, making it more better and interesting.
What is amazing about Auralis is his depth of work. He has written over sixty works and music for nearly every genre - Orchestral, Solo/Ensemble Instrumental, Jazz, Big-Band, Classical, Easy Listening, Mood Music, Piano, Children's Pantomime Music and a stage musical: 'Hong Kong Oriental'. Auralis is also a published fiction author: 'Operation Jackdaw' & 'To Snare A Fox'.
'The Mood I'm In', reflected the mood Auralis was in at the time, when he wrote this brilliantly produced album. Orchestra well conducted by James Mackie. I can't wait for his next one. Other CDs by Auralis are: 'Sound Traveller Vols. 1 & 2', and 'Destiny'.

Just to say that I think Auralis's music is underated. He writes very beautiful music.

Jack Webster (Pianist)

Auralis: a musician of brilliance
I had never heard to this composer before and now I m glad that I have, because he writes beautiful easy listening music of a high calibre. This piano mood music album, is very well written and the fine orchestrations are brilliantly conceived. Some of the pieces evoke memories of past trips to Italy - 'Venecian Affair' and the love song: 'But Not For Me' is beautifully written and orchestrated. I have since discoverd more albums by this brilliant composer. So watch out for him, because Auralis is 'cool'.

John Davidson (Trombonist)

Auralis - Man of the Orchestra
What can I say about this brilliant piano mood album that has not been said before except that it shows the versatility of Auralis as a composer. I know him because like me, he is a trombonist. I have always been perplexed how he manages to write such stunning orchestral/piano music. He only plays the piano occassionally when he is writing music, so this album is a remarkable example of his versatility and skill. Well done Auralis, my friend and fellow brass man. Great music - Great guy.
