BAND BACKGROUND: The trio originated in the 90's to perform at various festivals and events, primarily in NC and VA which led to more extensive tours beginning in 1998. The ladies went on the road with Peter Tork and James Lee Stanley (Two Man Band) as the opening act in 2000 and have been touring as opener and background vocalists for Peter with his various projects since.
The CD (For Pete's Sake) was recorded and released in 2003. The ladies put on an energetic live show and are working on a new CD, slated for the spring of 2008. AURA3 has opened and toured with Peter Tork, Peter Tork & Shoe Suede Blues and James Lee Stanley. They have also opened for Firefall, The James House Band and others.

Influences: The Beatles, Fleetwood Mac, Melanie, CSNY, Mammas and Pappas, Allman Bros. Band, and Cher would be listed among the groups eclectic influences, but working with Peter and James (Two Man Band) has been the influence.
The CD "For Pete's Sake," is somewhat of a tribute album to Tork and Stanley.
Shore admits that "Once Touched By Flame," a James Lee Stanley tune, summed it up for her. "The guys (Tork and Stanley) strolled across our paths one day, and everything changed. The song pretty much says it all. And we don't mind if they know it."

Aura3 LIVE at Black Wolf Vineyards in Dobson, NC
Snippet from: Aura at The Grape Jam Festival @ Black Wolf Vineyards
The Wolf's Lair in Dobson, NC recently offered the perfect blend of that old adage - wine, women and song. The wines were Black Wolf's own, the songs were played by several groups at a great little event called The Grape Jam and the women in question were an acoustic trio called Aura.
When Aura hits the stage, it doesn't take long to notice that this group is very different. At center stage is Dodi Shore, effortlessly playing 12 string guitar, bass pedals and singing - simultaneously. Her talent is as unmistakable as is her coordination. One finds themselves looking for the bass player, only to find that one need to look no further than Shore's feet. Not something you see every day, or any day but this, actually. Shore is also a soprano that can hit the high notes.
Marilyn Ingram holds down stage right with a charismatic presence and a sexy, smoky alto. You also cannot help but be drawn in to the assortment of small percussion instruments she plays with conviction and great flair. Energy is ever present and when she sings, the emotion is real. She also interacts with the band and the audience and can be rather witty.
Nancy Smith has a clear alto and a good range. Her lead vocals are sassy with a country edge. Both Smith and Ingram contribute to what could be called the "heavy small percussion" that distinguishes Aura's brand of music. The double tambourine players on several songs is particularly impressive and visual. But make no mistake, it is the vocals, drifting in and out of flawless harmony, that give this group their real Aura.

Folk/Pop Trio Releases New CD
The Villager Voice Magazine
The folk/pop trio AURA released their 3rd CD, "For Pete's Sake" on Tuesday, September 2, 2004. Joining the ladies as guest artists performing on the CD and for a concert and release event on Sunday, September 7 were Peter Tork and James Lee Stanley. The two musicians flew in from California for the event and to make several appearances at the Lewisville Lawn Party, an arts festival held annually in North Carolina.
The new CD includes a dozen tunes, most of which were penned by the three singer/songwriters that compose the trio: Dodi Shore, Nancy Smith and Marilyn Ingram. The title song, "For Pete's Sake," which was written by Tork and a co-writer during the 60's, is best known as the closing theme from The Monkees TV show. A James Lee Stanley song, "Once Touched by Flame" is also covered on the album.
Aura's new CD showcases the unique vocal abilities of the singer/songwriter group. From the strangely haunting rendition of "My Dream, My Fantasy" by Shore to the "I'm Not As Innocent" with a hint of country by Smith. Each song seems to have been perfectly chosen for the solo performances.
Marilyn Ingram showcases her sulty style with the song. "Crazy Love." Shore performs brilliantly on the 12-string guitar on most of the tracks. There is also enough diversity in choice of original songs to make this CD interesting. Even the CD cover reflects the raw simplicity of the songs. The artwork featured is a metal sculpture by award winning artist, Frank Holder.
Original songwriting along with an eclectic blend of voices that can really harmonize make For Pete's Sake AURA's best CD to date.
Aura will be touring behind the CD in the fall/winter of 2003 and later in the spring and summer of 2004 as part of a larger tour that might include dates with both Tork and Stanley. More information is available at the AURA website located at and at Woodland Moth Productions.
