Album Notes
Ava Logan is an award winning singer-actress from Washington, D.C., who now lives in the Chicago area. A graduate of Yale and the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Logan is a veterinarian by day and a jazz singer at night. The classically trained vocalist has performed jazz, pop, and rhythm and blues in the U.S. and abroad! She has portrayed two of her idols, Ella Fitzgerald and Nancy Wilson, at the Black Ensemble Theater.

More recently, she has appeared at some of Chicago’s most esteemed music venues including the Chicago Cultural Center, Millennium Park, and Maxim’s for the City of Chicago, The Drury Lane Theater, and at the jazz venues Pops for Champagne and the Green Dolphin. She has performed at the Peninsula and the Drake Hotels in downtown Chicago. She has also appeared at the Park West, Andy’s Jazz Club, Davenport’s Piano Bar and Cabaret and the Chestnut St. Grill. Presently, she performs at Pete Miller’s Jazz Lounge in Wheeling, IL on Tuesday evenings and occasionally at Pete Miller’s Evanston and Schaumburg locations on weekends. She also appears monthly at Café Pyrenees Restaurant in Libertyville, IL and at 94 West Restaurant in Orland Park, IL.

In California, she performed for the Lorraine Jackson Foundation Pearls of Hope Breast Cancer Benefit Gala held at the Four Seasons Hotel of Beverly Hills, CA. From that appearance she was asked to sing at a benefit for the Coalition of 100 Black Women of Orange County, CA. Most recently, she performed for the Lorraine Jackson Foundation Benefit Gala at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza Hotel of Beverly Hills.

This recording is her first major CD! It was produced by Henry Johnson, who played guitar for Joe Williams for many years. She worked with world renowned musicians on this project, Larry Novak (who has played for Nancy Wilson, Natalie Cole and Sarah Vaughn) on piano, Larry Gray on bass, and Leon Joyce on drums (the latter two gentlemen presently of the Ramsey Lewis trio).

This is a refreshing project that exemplifies classical jazz at its very best. The artistry and musicianship are delightful.
