ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Bongo Boy Records Awesome Big Hair Bands Volume One. A digital release of original rock music that by selection of great recordings and talented artists sounds like an awesome Rock Opera. The 11 songs presented on this release are big with guitar riffs that are totally cool, the vocals are out of this world and the drums will make your neighbors relocate. You will be pleasantly surprised as each song has that 80’s big rock sound.
1. Cool Cool Baby – Gar Francis 3:51
Originally recorded and released on 7" vinyl by Arona Records in 1987, Gar Francis’ original song "Cool Cool Baby" starts the lineup. Bongo Boy Records is very excited to have this jewel of a song as the leading track on Awesome Big Hair Bands Volume One. The song is making it's debut in the digital age. Gar Francis has played at the highs of CGBG’s, Max Kansas City and other New York City club. He is an award winning songwriter and producer and is known for his prolific songwriting and his high energy recognizable guitar riffs. Gar is endorsed by DiPinto Guitars of Philadelphia.

2. Now That You’re Gone – Lisa Coppola 4:01
From New Jersey - World-renowned keyboardist/musical director who has been a member of Billy Joel's band since 1993 joins forces with Bongo Boy Recording artist Lisa Coppola to take you back in time. David Rosenthal has worked with countless artists throughout his career including Bruce Springsteen, Robert Palmer, Cyndi Lauper, Enrique Iglesias, Rainbow, Whitesnake,Steve Vai and many others.
Lisa Coppola is a dynamic artist in her own right. She is a dedicated, ambitious and gifted singer/songwriter with a four and a half octave vocal range who has developed a style that blurs the lines between love-gone-bad country and heartfelt, confrontational rock and the Blues. Lisa's performing credits include having sung background vocals with Billy Joel, Pat Dinizio (The Smithereens), Marshall Crenshaw, John Eddie and Glen Burtnik (Styx). Previously, Lisa teamed up with Robbie Viola to bring us their Blues song "Stuck to My Shoe" on Backroom Blues Volume 3 and with RB3 to bring us "Wonder If" on Backroom Blues Volume 2. Lisa's video for "Just a Little Time" can be seen on Bongo Boy TV.
David brings his gorgeous keyboards and lush, powerful production to "Now That You're Gone (Coppola/Michelini)," an 80s power ballad that speaks to the universal subject of deep heartbreak. Lisa's soaring vocals combined with David's skilled production will move you profoundly on this track. There is nothing like a rock ballad to inspire your emotions.

3. Election Day – The Spiders 3:36
From New Jersey The Spiders bring their new single “Election Day” to Awesome Big Hair Bands Volume One. An immense rock track of absolute power from Nick DeStefano here. The live sound and vibe instantly puts you in the centre of the action, the distorted riffs are loaded with character, the drums crash out with a wonderful meeting of strength and style – everything good rock and roll music should be. – The Exposed Vocals
This song is about the upcoming Presidential Election in the USA and all the rhetoric and overall angst that so many feel about their choices for the top office in our country. Most importantly, its about getting out there and voting for what you believe in, and we as citizens of the USA do have a voice and we need you use it.
The Spiders are led by Lead Guitarist and Vocalist, Nick DeStefano. He has teamed up with John Henderson on Bass and Nestor Arcelay on Drums, both longtime veterans of the New Jersey circuit; this power trio has spent several years developing a very loyal following.

4. Take Me To Your Leader – Oliver’s Twist 3:51
From Plainfield. NJ. Oliver's Twist was formed by Wayne Olivieri and Brian Hadley in 1982-1990. 5. Somewhere Out There – Inches From Sin 3:45
Bongo Boy Records’ harmonious songwriting team began their careers in the historical city of Elmira, New York, where they were vocalists in the outstanding Southside High Concert Choir. Robert Brewer brings to the table his expertise gained from sharing the stage with Edgar Winter, Steppenwolf, April Wine and Dan Aykroyd of Blues Brothers fame, ensuring Inches From Sin truly connect with their audiences on multiple levels. The group says, "We are all about building momentum, embracing our fan base and performing across the USA and beyond." With showcasing opportunities on the horizon, the band looks forward to performing at select music industry conferences across North America. These relentless songwriters are currently writing and recording material for their new upcoming follow-up album release. The best is yet to come as Inches From Sin, who continue to expand their catalogue of musical masterpieces, build tours, perform live and grow their brand worldwide.

6. Cover Girl – Wood Shampoo 4:10
From Garden City, New York - Wood Shampoo - "Cover Girl". Don't know WOOD SHAMPOO? No matter, you do now. Plenty of names to drop but, more importantly ...do you still like to party? Wood Shampoo consists of Murph Daniels and Tommy Byrnes. Bongo Boy Records was asked the question to select a great BIG SONG from their song list and this song fits the best on this compilation. This band has many great BIG Rock n Roll songs. "Cover Girl" is a great addition to the current line up on Awesome Big Hair Bands Volume One. We all are convinced that you will agree.
You would like to know what the definition of" wood shampoo" means? - To hit someone over the head with a baseball bat, nightstick, etc., i.e., those cops gave me a wood shampoo.

7. There’s Love in Town – hooyoosay 3:09

10. Final Strike – Chand K. Nova 4:48
Chand K Nova is a multi-instrumentalist from London, England. His love for guitar driven music from an early age led to him getting his hands on a guitar and he has rarely put it down since. After teaching himself how to play the songs of the bands he admired growing up, he became bored with just playing and had an urge to create, but was unable to find people to make noise with. This drove Chand to learn a variety of instruments and every instrument played on his recordings has been performed by himself. He then turned his attention to creating instrumental music as an outlet for his creativity and firmly believes that every song composed has it's own story. Chand K. Nova’ music video "Bliss" was featured on National Television via Bongo Boy TV in Season 4.

11. Superstar – Chickahominy Vibe 4:44
