Album Notes
Ayo started playing music at the age of 18 while enrolled with the military band.
He has combined skills on the trombone and saxophone.
Ayo played in the military band for 6 years before resigning from the military to pursue a solo career in music.
He is a pioneering member of the group Brass Serpent in Nigeria, an Afro gospel band in the 90’s that was later renamed “The Apostles”.
Ayo Awe-Joseph plays a fusion of Jazz/Gospel and Blue Rhythm in a variety of settings within the church communities and beyond.
Ayo formed his own group in the late 90’s “The jazz Epistle” with 8 members.
He recorded his first album in 2004 WHAT A FRIEND…. A gospel /traditional jazz piece.
Until his recently released album “PLEASANT PLACES”….. Ayo has traveled extensively on the vehicle of “Jazz Worship” a prophetic music ministry expression with the lead saxophone.
Ayo is an itinerant musician and a teacher of the word.
His recent album “Pleasant Places” is a 7 track music album Awesome God, Tete se Te Mi O, That’s Why, All Honour, Brand New Day, Fi Ope F’oluwa and Awesome God (Instrumental).
Awesome God mirrors Dave Brubeck’s take 5 in style and bass rhythm.
Ayo presently lives in Lagos, he is married to Oluwatoyin Awe-Joseph and they have 2 lovely children, their daughter Feola and their son Niola.
