ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Founded in 1996 by GRAMMY® Award-winning mastering engineer and producer Charlie Pilzer, Azalea City Recordings includes an eclectic array of roots-based musicians and songwriters who dip into the well of traditional music for their inspiration. Whether performing solo or in full band configurations, these musicians are an inspiration to each other and to their audiences.

Azalea City Recordings is a REAL cooperative, run by the artists. This homegrown outfit has gone from being a small town Folk label holding occasional potluck meetings to winning multiple WAMMIEs for Best DC area record label, producing 5 full length sampler CDs and garnering national radio airplay.

A glance at Sampler V reveals the diversity of genres represented by Azalea City Recordings. You’ll find mostly–original music in the following styles: Americana/country, contemporary folk, jazz, roots rock, R&B-tinged classic rock, Afro-beat music from Togo and traditional Norwegian music.
