Album Notes
The new compilation CD from the Backbeat Allstars.

The first in a series of acid jazz compilations from Backbeat Records. Here, we feature cuts from some of the Backbeat talent working on future albums.

Fishbelly Black, Angela Marni, The B Side, Common Cause, Exodus Quartet, Interplanetary Love Communication, Styles, and DJ Hakim..

Funky Loisaida" from "The B Side" brings a down home New Orleans flavor to acid jazz.

"Talk to Your Man". - The Mississippi soul stylings of Lamar Thomas featured on this "Common Cause" song

"Ven a Gozar" (recently picked up by MCA) shows acid jazz can also stand on it's own in the house clubs.

"Funk What" by Exodus Quartet was the first release by what would later be Fishbelly Black.

Slippin' and Slidin'" - Angela Marni's rich and sassy vocal keeps nasty funk alive.

"The Crusader" is the latest offering from Fishbelly Black- funky, tight and infectious with that alto sax and B3 throwing flames.

"Time is on our Side" Trip Hop with cello's and Malcom X samples.

"Catwoman" - Cathy Stiles blows like Maceo on this funk burner.

Mellow Mode - DJ Hakim explores the darker sampled side of jazz
