ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Bamboojuice was an Alt Rock band formed by Mark Villarosa, singer and songwriter in 2002.

Listeners will quickly detect classic rock influences in this EP, a defining factor in the overall sound. But there are other distinct flavours on the musical table, fusing the melodic qualities of the songs with a wide range of diverse musical genres such as Blues, Funk, Classical, Pop & even Heavy rock beats and drum rolls.

The choruses have hooks that pull your ears in, supported by the beat and bass-lines which throb away to give off a driving vibe you cant resist tapping your foot to.

Where the debut EP "Nightsong"(2002)explored the many faces of isolation, loneliness, vulnerability and yearning; "Comin Home" (2007)is very much "Nightsong's" Part II.

"Comin Home's" tracks speak with resolve and confidence projecting a sense of hope and redemption, and in many ways, providing the 'answers' much sought after in the "Nightsong" EP.

What you have in "Comin Home" is an EP which travels through several musical genres with ease, using thoughtful and lyrical storytelling as a common foundation to each song.

If this is the kind of music that keeps you interested, dont hesitate..get this EP! you wont be disappointed.

Two tracks from this EP ("Scared of Heights" & "Liz") reached the semi-finals of the 2007 UK Songwriting competition out of 5,000 entries.

Mark Villarosa is an Acoustic Rock artist from London.

Mark Villarosa originally formed a band called "Bamboojuice" in 2002 drafting in friends Salvatore Notaro (drums) and Mario DeBergolis (Bass) to help bring the project to life. Two EPs were recorded by the band during the 5 years of the groups lifetime (Nightsong in 2002 & Comin Home in 2007).

Two songs (Scared of Heights & Liz) from the Comin Home EP also reached the semi-finals of the UK songwriting competition in 2007 against 5,000 nationwide entries.

Bamboojuice played numerous shows around the London gigging circuit and abroad building a solid fanbase (the Rock Garden, the Dome, the Purple Turtle, the Borderline, 100 Club, the Hope & Anchor, Sound, the Half Moon, the Dublin Castle, Monto Water Rats, Le Bar Bat in NYC) and were filmed by an MTV crew in 2008 for a feature called "MTV Live & Unsigned". The band also supported Reef at one of their revival gigs in the same year.

With a new line-up of songs, Mark Villarosa together with Salvatore Notaro (original drummer) drafted in Sanjay Katick (Lead Guitar) and Donal Kelleher (Bass) in 2009 to complete the new supporting cast of Mark V.

Can't pidgeon-hole this one - too much unique talent!
I found "Comin Home" after discovering some of Mark Villarosa's more recent work, most notably his soon-to-be released "Hangover" single. I like the fact I can't categorize this album. Though there are echos of Stone Temple Pilots, Thirty Seconds to Mars, and even Chris Daughtry, the sound is unique. Lead guitar and vocal hooks that will wake you up at night and stay with you all day are prevalent throughout this album. Mark Villarosa is certainly a talented singer-songwriter with appeal across genres and audiences. I'll be looking for more of his work.
