ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Bandera Latina is all about the love of music. A love shared by band founders, brother and sister Salvatore and Silvana Sichi. Both of Italian origins they grew up listening to Itlian music, but also pop, jazz, latin, salsa, blues and more. In Bandera Latina, all of these influences come together in a spectacular way. A big influence came from the Gipsy Kings; in fact, Bandera Latina started out as a Gipsy Kings cover band. In time, they developed their own style, incorporating Italian and Latin influences. This can be heard in many of the songs on this album, 'Cada dia' and 'Bandera Latina' are examples of this Gipsy Kings based style. This is also noticeable in Salvatore's instrumental works 'Pompeii' and 'Lacrimae' which were meant as a musical dyptich. Their Italian roots show in songs such as 'Gli occhi tuoi' (what Salvatore calls 'Italo-reggae) and 'Catharina', a Tarantella style song with ridiculous lyrics. Other influences can be found in song like 'La Locura del Alma' (Flamenco-jazz), 'Inte Haiati' ( Arabian) and 'Ochi Chyornye' (Gypsy jazz).
