Album Notes
Barbara’s beautiful voice invites the listener to hear songs that are reflective of the human condition while offering a sense of hope and healing. Barbara draws on her experiences using music in a variety of situations through music therapy. This CD is a companion to her book More Than a Song: Exploring the Healing Art of Music Therapy. (NOTE: the CD can be fully appreciated without the book.) The album also features a track by the late Barry Bernstein.

Barbara wrote the majority of songs on this recording. Instrumentation includes Barbara on guitar, piano, alto recorder, and ceramic flute; Samantha Sinai on Cello; and Linda Good on viola. One track features the late Barry Bernstein (music therapist extraordinaire). Barbara’s singing group, Daughters of Harriet, lend beautiful harmonies to several tracks. The Daughters of Harriet is comprised of five music therapists who lead large Chant Circles at venues across the U.S. Other members of the group include Lisa Jackert, Robin Rio, Jodi Winnwalker, and Maureen Hearns.

Many of the songs on this recording are very accessible and can be used in group or individual settings, from concert hall to home!
