Album Notes
Modern popular music has been content to produce lyric songs and short stories while contemporary novels and movies tell the “big stories”. With the notable exceptions of the occasional concept album or rock opera, longer coherent story-songs have been given short shrift in favor of the sub-four minute catchy sing-along or dance song. But it wasn’t always that way.

From the dawn of human history in myriad cultures and languages rapt audiences gathered to hear long verse stories performed by epic singers telling of romances and adventures on the grand scale. On clay tablets and hand printed parchment are recorded epic stories of oral tradition starring larger than life heroes - Gilgamesh, Odysseus, Beowulf, Siegfried, Brunnhilde, and many more. Now at last another hero emerges.

The Neon Tattoo Volume One begins the epic of a unique man and his struggles as he attempts to fit into modern society. From his humble birth through a series of unforgettable adventures The Neon Tattoo is buffeted about by the tides of fortune. Against the backdrop of modern rock music, epic poet Paul Bariteau channels the ancient muse to intone the gripping saga of a sad but resilient character – The Neon Tattoo.
