Album Notes
The date: Summer 1988. After their ambitious "Greatest Hits" album & video project ZABAGABEE was released in 1987, BARNES & BARNES went about recording some new material the next year. In the middle of the year, they submitted a cassette of most of the 12 tracks they cut to their then record company. The songs were less about weird comedy and more in the pop vein of what their 1983 & 1984 albums, SOAK IT UP and AMAZING ADULT FANTASY were like. Less comedic and more uptempo kind of material like those earlier releases. After the label dragged their feet about putting out this cool new stuff, B & B went back to their weirder and perhaps more successful and experimental type music that they had done earlier in their career. Songs like TOUCH YOURSELF and WHAT'S IT LIKE TO BE YOU were recorded. And the great HICTABUR album was shelved...

In 1991, on their LOOZANTEEN Cd, Art & Artie did a mix of this more mature type material, with some comedy/novelty craziness thrown in also. Several of the completed HICTABUR tracks were added to the playlist for good measure. A few more of these groovy dozen tracks showed up on 2000's B & B disc, YEAH, another greatest hits type package. But until now, this long lost masterpiece of all 12 HICTABUR tracks has never been heard! Yes, fans of the boys have clamored for it for many years. This is the first time it's been assembled from the master tapes that were mixed back in 1988! Nothing has been remixed for this project, so you're hearing it as it was conceived back in the day.
