ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Barry Sides new album Broken Hearts Broken Strings is filled with great music and amazing lyrics. His lyrics are insightful and seem to communicate basic feelings we all have but can not seem to put into words.

The musicianship on Broken Hearts Broken Strings is Top-Shelf. It features former Tom Petty drummer and Don Henley producer Stan Lynch on drums, guitars, percussions, and backup vocals and five-time Grammy winner Ronny Cates on bass and guitars. The album was produced by Jeff Sims and was recorded in Gainesville Florida.

Barry Sides is another branch on the ever growing Gainesville musical family tree, a tree that includes Tom Petty and Heartbreakers Stan Lynch, Benmont Tench, Mike Campbell and Ron Blair, former Eagle and Flying Burrito Brother Bernie Leadon, former Eagle Don Felder, Stephen Stills, Bo Diddley, Less than Jake and Sister Hazel.

Barry Sides’ vocal style is uniquely his own yet listeners will detect traces of Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, Steve Earl, John Prine and even Townes Van Zandt. His lyrics shoot from the hip and he holds no punches. His pen is his sword and with it he slays his dragons and demons.

Barry Sides has appeared in concert with Bob Dylan, BB King, James Brown, George Throgood, Robert Cray, Leftover Salmon, Donna the Buffalo, John Hammond, John Mayall, Johnny Winter, Leon Russell and dozens of others.

Broken Hearts Broken Strings is an example of why Barry Sides is considered one of Florida’s finest singer songwriters

I couldn't stop listening
A few songs leaped out at me immediately, but I found myself listening to the whole album and finding I couldn't stop. The pain and sadness spoke to me and the lyrics have an ironic twist that made me smile. What's not to love?
