Album Notes
Ever since hearing Sonny Rollins' "A Night At The Village Vanguard" I've always loved the sound of a trio without piano/guitar. The space, having to use your imagination, the freedom appealed to me both as a listener and as a performer. For this project I was lucky enough to work with two of the finest musicians alive today, Marcus Strickland on tenor and soprano saxophone, and E.J. Strickland on drums. The music on this cd was partly written with them specifically in mind, the "older" tunes were chosen because I felt they were perfect for the occasion.
