Thank you to Graye for being my chosen sister, muse, and collaborator, learning drums for this project, motivating me, believing in me, harmonizing with me, and being there for me. Thank you to Eirinn and Eddie for writing tons of parts and playing in the live band, as well as being wonderfully supportive friends, and overall smart, beautiful, talented, hardworking renaissance people. Thank you Betty and Chris (who’s love is so beautiful it makes me cry) for providing solos and sample material, generously inviting me to record in your home, discussing my lyrics with me, and making me feel seen and appreciated. Thank you to Sarah for providing her voice via vocoder, and being a talented sweetie whom I look up to. Thank you to Eric for being a great friend to me and always being so down to help me with whatever I need. Thank you to all my friends who believed in me and motivated me to finally create my own project. Thank you to Beach House, Blood Orange, Sound of Ceres, and SOPHIE for the inspiration.

This music is for the queers. I label my gender in the title of this album as a statement about societal expectations of trans and nonbinary people to constantly label themselves or else face misgendering. That kind of surface level statement is for those outside of queer culture, however, the thoughts and experiences shared in these songs are ones I hope will resonate with queer people like myself. It’s for the closeted trans woman who just needs to see and hear someone who looks and sounds like her.
