ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Andrew Bayuk is a singer/songwriter committed to creating and performing captivating and relevant folk-rock music forging a soundtrack for modern daily life and the political and social issues of our day.

Heavily influenced by the Beatles, John and Yoko, Neil Young, Bob Dylan, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, and the Grateful Dead, much of Andrew's music has an acoustic folk backbone with an electric rock overlay and is laced with accompanying and background harmony vocals.

Featured on television and radio, Andrew's music is finding its way to the mainstream audience.

In addition to his more conventional songs about life and love, Andrew is determined to play songs for people who still care about our less fortunate fellow citizens, are fed up with the unfettering of big business at the expense of the public, are tired of having our environment compromised so the rich can get richer, are tired of being lied to and led into an illegal war for oil, and still have the dream of a solid decent America that is strong at home and respected around the world. Like many, many people, Andrew does support the troops, but NOT the war.

The song "Smokescreen" is about the Iraq War and "Bullshit" is about President Bush. Andrew's songs "Smokescreen" and "Save the USA" were listed among the TOP 10 SONGS OF THE TIMES on Neil Young's "Living With War Today" website.

Andrew's songs on this CD, "Footprints in the Snow" and "Too Good To Be True", won 1st place prizes in 2 of the American Idol Underground's Folk song contests! (http://idolunderground.com/Pages/Profile/UserProfile.aspx?UserID=194739)

Andrew has a passion for ancient Egypt. He's created and maintains one of the original, largest and most comprehensive ancient Egypt websites on the Internet at: http://guardians.net
Here you can explore the pyramids, tombs, temples of Egypt and much more. The song, "Weighing of the Heart" is based on a scene from ancient Egyptian scrolls which depict one of the older scenes of the judgment after death ever recorded. The live acoustic version of this song is included in this CD.

Abso- fucking -lutely brilliant!
Ironic, sincere, grounded, ethereal, eclectic, and well rounded musically; the album represents all of the complex, mixed emotions that Andrew has inside as well as his ability to understand the mixed messages coming to him. It was great to hear him sing in a higher range in “Weighing of the Heart.” It was clear that he has been working at his craft for thirty years. This album represents a culmination of Andrew as a poet and as a musician. It reminds me of why I like him so much. Andrew is a complex person who is thoughtful, cynical, and sincere.

Make room for Andrew Bayuk
Make room for Andrew Bayuk - his shuffle-driven blend of folk and blues is catchy enough to assure a roomful of handclaps and chorus sing-alongs.

His Own Signature Sound
.....I couldn’t wait to get home to listen to the CD. I slid it right into my car stereo after leaving the open mic and drove away to the sounds of the title track. By the time I got home, I had heard 11 honest and original songs that prove what a lifetime of devotion to your craft can produce - an opus that any musician would be proud to call his own.

But Andrew Bayuk is not just any musician. His versatility won’t let him fit neatly into any one music genre. Although, he does hover closely over the “folk rock” category and creatively integrates varying influences such as Bob Dylan, Neil Young, and The Beatles into his own signature sound.

Andrew's album is a wonderful mix of thoughtful songs and melodies
The selection on this wonderful album draws from many diverse sources. John Lennon's spirit fills the air and in other songs, classic rock guitar provides a foundation for the songs. Each song is a showcase of Andrew's phenomenal music talent. It is a great album for cruising around town.
