Album Notes
"It's tempting to compare any male-female duo possessing a down home sensibility to Johnny and June, Gram and Emmylou, Porter and Dolly etc., but to their credit, Bedhed and Blondy, AKA Jay Studdard and Fran Jackson, make it fairly clear they don't want to be lumped in with anyone else.....bred with a cool confidence that's readily apparent..." Lee Zimmerman, No Depression, Oct 2012

Our sound is a mash up of many things.....blues, rock, Southern rock, alt-country, folk, and alternative. We're told we have a distinctive sound of our own.....Give us a listen and see if you agree.

We have no specific formula when it comes to writing songs. We like to tell stories....fact, fictional, or a combination of sorts. The writing has developed as we have continued to record on a fairly consistent basis for the past 3+ years with many different players. The LIVE cd is our fourth project during that span of time. These are live recordings.....Hillbilly Wannabe and Buffalo Creek were recorded in our dining room and Savior was recorded in a friends photo studio. The only audio edits on the entire EP were a couple of my oooo's on Savior. It was just too cold in the photo studio for me (Bedhed) to hit the vocals close enough. Everything else was just mic'd down and thrown into the board and mixed. We wanted a true representation of what we can do live....not a polished or tweaked studio recording....and that is what we have with the release of the LIVE ep. We weren't going after perfect....we were going after real.
