Album Notes
**Now including David Berkeley's "Fire Sign," recently featured on the CBS-TV show "Without a Trace."

"From the very first second I played this record I was immediately drawn to its magic." --Bruce Warren, Program Director WXPN in Philadelphia.

Berkeley's second CD, After the Wrecking Ships, has overtones of Coldplay, Grant Lee Phillips, new Beck, Ryan Adams. It debuted as the 6th most added record to Non-commercial and Triple A Radio nationwide. It is already being played on WXPN in Philly; KCRW in Los Angeles; WFUV in New York; WXRV in Boston; WTMD in Towson MD; WCBE in Columbus, OH; KTBG in Kansas City; KSLU in Hammond, Lousiana; KSUT in Ignacio, CO; KUWR in Laramie, WY; KVNF in Paonia, CO; Maine Public Radio; WERS in Boston; WFCR in Western Mass; and XM Satellite Radio.

Recorded in a basement in New Paltz, Berkeley's talented band (Adam Buchwald--mandolins, mandola, banjo, dobro; Alex Weinstein--guitars, Rhodes, baritone guitar; Tyler Gibbons--electric and tenor bass; Dave Richards--upright bass; Jon Natchez--alto and bari sax; Frisbay--piano, flute and trombone; Greg Beyer--percussion; Andy Eggers--drums; Dan Vonnegut--drums; Rebecca Fanya--background vocals) is brighter and more powerful than ever.

The songs on this new collection are grittier than those on The Confluence. The emotional pallette is broader. If the Confluence is perfect for a Sunday afternoon, After the Wrecking Ships is perfect for a Saturday evening.

Berkeley's voice is rich and warm as ever. His lyrics take on an ever-widening subject matter with passion and grace. There is poetry here and dramatic melodies that will stick.

"He sings in a lustrous, melancholy voice with shades of Tim Buckley and Nick Drake. As his melodies ascend to
become benedictions and consolations, the music shimmers and peals." --Jon Pareles, The New York Times

"He's a double fantasy of Nick Drake and Donovan." --Rollingstone.com

"With a warm tenor voice, tightly controlled delivery and quietly restrained guitar, Berkeley evokes the work of Ralph McTell, Donovan and Nick Drake." --SingOut!

"It is reminiscent of Simon & Garfunkel doing something pretty serious with Natalie Merchant and makes the likes of poor old David Gray seem laughable in terms of sheer absence of charisma and songs." --Americana UK

Great Guy and Great Music
I met David when he played an Elliott Smith tribute I organized and I was blown away right off the bat! He is a great guy and great talent with a wonderful group of musicians around him. This album is beautiful - he is a big step ahead of everyone else! If you don't have....get it!

david berkeley is great
i have been to two of david's shows and after each one have bought one of his CDs and loved it. his music makes me happy.

Wonderful CD!
I really like the songs on this CD. Each of them are lovely, especially Firesign. My only complaint (and it's a very slight one) is that there is not much variety in my music. It's the kind of CD that you could fall asleep on the first song, wake up somewhere in the middle and not realize that you had fallen asleep. That said though, I still give it five stars and is worth every penny, if only for Firesign.

Eloquent and affecting
After I heard a short excerpt of "Fire Sign" and found myself singing it weeks later, I knew I had to buy David Berkeley's album. I just never expected to be drawn in so completely by the other tracks. "Fire Sign" remains my favorite, but the poetry of the other songs is enrapturing. It's a excellent collection and I highly recommend it if you're in the mood to really listen and take in another's thoughts.

I love Wrecking Ships! It is a great CD and the artist is very talented. THX!

One of the best of 2004
Genuine sounds and lyrics; a genuine singer. Every song on this CD has this smooth continuity that carries you from start to finish and back again. Berkeley's voice gives off this old world feeling, like his talent is rooted deeply into the very core of creative musical talent and not a mainstream caricature of such. I'd recommend it to anyone who loves music with depth and emotion.

Contains the most beautiful song in the world
A fantastic CD with alot of love.
Just listen to the song Firesign. It's the most beautiful song in the world and just that song is worth buying the cd.
It contains alot of great songs for great moments.

This CD is S0 amazing. I would pay so much more then $13.00 for it! Fire sign is a favorite, and if any one has the chance to see him in concert DO IT! He is amazing live as well, and on a CD. Berk is not only vocally talented, but he has the ability to write extremely touching lyrics. I LOVE IT!

Slightly better than The Confluence,if that's possible.Fire Sign is a classic song.

Perfect, just Perfect.
The Confluence was an excellent album, but David Berkeley's follow-up is phenomenal. It hasn't left my CD player from the day I recieved it.
