Album Notes
Bernie Chiaravalle (pronounced "shaira valley") is a California native now making his home in Nashville, TN since 1998. He has been playing guitar and singing with Michael McDonald since 1988.

Bernie grew up in Marin County playing in various bands sharing the bill with other Bay Area bands like Huey Lewis and the News, The Tubes, The Sons of Champlin and Clover.

In the early 1980’s he migrated to Los Angeles to pursue a career in songwriting. He soon met up with David Pack of Ambrosia and they began writing together. Bernie co-wrote “Sky Is Falling” which appears on Ambrosia Antholgy and “Light My World” which can be found on David’s Unborn CD.

When Michael McDonald was searching for a new guitar player in 1988, it was David Pack who suggested Bernie to his longtime friend. Bernie has been with Michael ever since and has co-written several songs with him as well. Blue Obsession, released in 2000, has 4 songs co-written by Bernie and he also produced 2 songs. One of those songs “No Love To Be Found”, was recently re-released on Michael McDonald: The Ultimate Collection on Rhino Records in 2005. Bernie has also played on several other McDonald records including Motown 2, which certified Gold.

He is currently writing and producing an album for Amy Holland McDonald to be released in 2006.

No cookie cutters here and not a throwaway in the bunch. MYSTERY OF LOVE is a magical musical journey, a thought provoking introspect that leads all over the map. A vast amount of musical influences abound in this one and picking a favorite would be impossible. Breath of fresh air.

A potpurri of blues, rock, vocals and killer guitar!
This is an excellent CD and worthy of anyone's listening ear. Bernie draws from so many influences including most of all the Beatles. If you are a Beatle's fan, you will love this! From the cascading guitar intro of the touching Father and Child to the rocking blues and killer guitar on Soulfire (my favorite by the way!), this is a real listening experience!!!! I highly recommend it!

Great cd...very "Beatlesque"...straight from the heart
This is a great CD...honest, moving songs, that come straight from the heart. My favorite song is "Father and Child"....brought several tears to my eye!
Way to go, Bernie!

more Gerry Raffertyesque
I realy like the whole CD but I find it's more sounding like Gerry Rafferty, the voice & the melancholy. Beautiful.

Great work!
This is a great cd. Bernie, as usual, did a wonderful job. When I ordered from cd baby I was asked for special comments. I asked that my copy be autographed. I was a bit disappointed when I received the cd with no autograph. I guess I'll have to wait until I see Bernie at a family function and get him to personally autograph it. Hopefully, this coming summer at our family reunion. It's in WV this year, Bernie.
