Album Notes
No. Unless you are one of the 2,000 or so people who join us, the San Francisco Free Folk Festival each year to enjoy free music, music & dance workshops, and dance performances, you've never heard of us. And that goes for the 15 acts featured here, all who have kindly donated songs to this compilation. We don't specialize in the famous, just in the should be famous. We are the incremental folk music festival. We are incremental performers. We attract friends and fans one by one, person to person, song by song. We will be happy to sell 100 of these special, one of a kind compilations. We will be happy to reach 10 new friends, a few dozen new festival attendees. Despite the lack of corporate sponsors, rich friends, or media attention, we endure. You won't hear any songs here from Bob Dylan, Lead Belly, Odetta, the Carter Family, Doc Watson or other folk icons, but you will experience a similar openess, vibrant humanity, and generousity of spirit. As long as the love of folk music and dance endures, so will the San Francisco Free Folk Festival. See you next June.
