Left Right Here

by Beth Fitchet Wood

Left Right Here is a pile of songs about the problems of life, and because those problems never stick to one type, neither does this music: very vocal based, folk with jazz harmonic elements, emotional range from joy to desperation.

Album Notes
The type of this music most closely resembles folk, with some jazz and Brazilian, and even a bit of Rock ’n Roll and it is all very vocal and lyric driven. The project started with 19 live guitar - vocal tracks, and grew and shrank from there.
There is a lot of magical thinking involved, with some ghosts and some exaltation, desperation, coming to terms with stuff. The musicians are Beth Fitchet Wood, Steve Wood and Nate Wood, all family - who know exactly where all the songs come from, which is a very rare phenomenon. The other dude, Paul Cartwright played one brilliant violin solo. The songs are about various aspects of the problem of love; how it’s the thing that always fouls everything up.

Beth At Her Best!
I'm a big fan of Beth Fitchet Wood and I love this new CD! Even more than I expected.
Ordinarily, I much prefer a live recording of Beth than a studio version. They're just not the same. There's such a strong connection of her voice and guitar with the soul and emotions of her songs when she performs them live. It's a rare thing, but these guys managed to bring that connection into the studio and capture it beautifully.

It's a great selection of songs. The arrangements and production on them are perfect. Subtle and supportive all the way through, then strong and independent when need be. The variety of sound is wonderful. At no point listening to this CD do I find myself thinking... "Well we kinda heard this already in that other song".

This CD is kind of special to me. I remember a lot of songs here that I first heard as infants.
I was in the audience when she donned her glasses, placed a piece of paper on the music stand and said "Here's a new song I wanna try".
I have excellent live recordings that I really love of most of these songs, but right now, this CD is at the top of my charts.
