Album Notes
1. In Your Light: inspired by 13th century spiritual poet, Rumi, as translated by Coleman Barks.
"In your light I learn to love.

In your beauty, how to make poems.

You dance inside my chest, where no one sees you.

But sometimes I do, and that sight becomes this art.

2. Angels and Turtles: In honor of turtle habitats and sanctuaries the world over.

3. Klee Fish: inspired by artist Paul Klee’s painting of fish scratched onto paper in a black ocean.

4. With the Tao: from the Tao to Ching as translated by Stephen Mitchell. “He” can be substituted for “she”.
"He who stands on tiptoe doesn’t stand firm.
He who rushers ahead doesn’t go far.
He who tries to shine dims his own light.

5. This Beautiful Quiet: in recognition of moments in life when everything seems to stop, and you’re left with a profound quietness, which is liberating.

6. Loving Leaves: looking up into trees while lying on the earth (piano and kora).

7. Flowers in the Upper Garden: the phrase comes from words from my best friend’s notebook I discovered after her passing on her island home.

8. Singing the Earth: feeling the earth through one’s feet and singing from that place (piano and kora).

9. Love is a River: inspired by words of Rumi, translated by Coleman Barks (piano and kora).
A road might end at a single house, but it’s not love’s road. Love is a river, drink from it.

10. Cool Breeze: the music comes from the inspiration visiting Celtic lands and Wales where my family is from (piano and Irish wooden flute).

11. Sleeping in Trees: imagining sleeping up in the canopies of trees.

12. Seven Heaven: a melody over a favorite piano groove in the meter of seven (piano and the bamboo flute of India).

13. Wings Like Breath: once a large bird flew over me in the woods, so close I could hear it’s wings which sounded like breath.

Peaceful, “Feel Good” Music
This is beautiful, freely-flowing music with great taste. The Kora and piano sound together is magical, and the ensemble playing is wonderful. I keep wanting to return for repeated listening!
