Album Notes
Betty Johnson sang and recorded with her family, The Johnson Family Singers, on CBS television for two decades. Among the many fans of the famous singing group was Franklin D Roosevelt.

On her own, Betty became a regular on Don McNeill's "Breakfast Club" and Jack Paar's TV show. Recording over 150 records and a dozen albums, Betty is known for her versatility. She headlined the premier clubs around the world: The Copacabana, Persian Room, Blue Angel, The Sands, Coconut Grove, The Fairmont and The Palladium. In addition, she co-starred on Broadway in "Take Me Along". She also starred regionally in "Brigadoon, The King and I, South Pacific, Finian's Rainbow and The Sound of Music. She has made innumerable on TV shows hosted by Bob Newhart, Jack Benny, Perry Como, and Ed Sullivan. She retired to raise a family and went on to receivea degree in drama from Dartmouth College in 1981. With her children now on their own, she has decided to resume her career.

These popular standards of Big Band style music from the 1950's have been digitally remastered from the original Bell Records Recordings maintained in Betty Johnson's private archives. It seems that good things just never grow old, they just age gracefuly and mellow with the years.

I loved the way you did This Ole House and Cross Over The Bridge
I liked these selections. I found them clear and meaningful than the versions I was used to. And I liked how you were able to completely switch style back and forth between novelty and gospel and standard and Western. I like the picture on the CD too.

I liked the liner notes, they were really helpful and interesting, and yew..they jumped out at me how you met him.Glad that you got this on the Internet track.
I want to listen again and again.
thank you.

comfortable soul food for us. Very comfortable
Your rich voice and clear diction is comfortable sould food to those of us fed up with lip-synching screeching din bats billed as "pop singers". Keep the faith for the rest of us.

It is super selection of songs and came at the right time-after the election fre
got the CD and is is just super, and it came at the right time. I had just taken all I could take with the TV news and the election and all the hype and I just locked myseld in my bedroom and listened and just relaxed. What a collecttion of songs. I was not very familiar with some of them, but they are fast becoming favorites.
I am taking the CD to work and will put on my earphones at lunchtime, put my head on the desk, and enjoy the best music this side of heaven...Thank you and don't stop singing.

You have a fantastic voic and I hear you on my favorite DCstation
Dear Betty, By chance in my car I turned on the Red Shipley Show on WAMU and they were playing you.
I liked it so much that I stopped the car Called WAMU and got the information so that I could tell you how I feel.
A fantastic voice and I want to know when you perform in the Washington, D.C. area.
I hear that you played the Kennedy Center in a play that was headed for Broadway, but I didn't connect you with the singer Betty Johnson.
Now I know. Hope that you like singing better than acting, so we can have more.

This is fabulous
Hey, what a great song selecttion. this is fabulous. these recordings sound like they were recorded recently. It wasn't until I read the liner notes of the CD tht I discovered they were recorded in 1954. I love these songs.I always liked Ronnie Gaylord's "Cuddle me"and have never heard anyone elseee sing it.
Also, Hand Williams"There'll Be No Teardrops Tonight".I always lovedTony Bennett version too, but your arrangement and vocal is fantastic. These are all wonderful recordings.
