ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Hailing from Corner Brook, NL, Bev Allen is no stranger to the music scene. Recognized for a love of partying, entertaining and songwriting, she insists she's just getting started.

For the past 20 years she has performed at local venues ranging from private settings to large festivals. From an interest in diverse musical genres, her collection of classic rock, new country, traditional and crafty originals have stirred many an audience to a good-time sing-song or dance party. Each show delivers a recipe of Bev's soul - raspy vocals, mashed with influences of Stevie Nicks, Janis Joplin and Sugarland, served with 12 string acoustics, a dash of preset backgrounds and favorable rapport with the audience. PARTY!

In between her solo performing, Bev is working on her third recording of original songs. Her first album of twelve country songs was recorded in 1996. The title track "Do It For Your Mother", gained the hearts of many fans. This poem-turned-song written about her late mother still receives airplay on local radio. In 2000, her second album "It's Our World" received three Music NL nominations for New Rising Artist, Country Artist and Female Artist. The title track "Its Our World", "I'll Get By" and "Trust Your Heart " received honorable mentions with Billboard, Unisong and Paramount songwriting contests, respectively, with significant airplay on Newfoundland radio. Ill Get By also earned a spot on a compilation of 12 Newfoundland songwriters.

From the first campfire song to a four piece band at the ECMA Discovery stage, Bev's been there and done it. "Twenty years later, I know what I love to do. To see a audience instantly embrace the words to my songs following a honest homegrown delivery makes it all worthwhile".

Both humble and hopeful, Bev dreams for one song in her diverse Book of Dreams hitting the charts. "More than ever I perform my originals on home turf instead of pitching them around the world. I've written more traditional, party and country songs for my next album and perform them with my favorite cover songs. For now she continues to perform, write and enjoy, while remembering John Masons quote, You were born an original. Don't die a copy ;)
