Standing on a Platform of Kindness

by Bev Zizzy

A total of thirteen talented musicians and twenty instruments accompany Bev Zizzy’s powerful vocals and unmasked, soul bare-ing, insightful songwriting on her latest album, Standing on a platform of KINDNESS, which she both co-produced and designed. Although the thirteen album tracks offer diverse lyrical stories and varied instrumentation, they are all thematically connected by an underlying theme of kindness that runs like a river throughout. From guitar rhythms reminiscent of Fleetwood Mac in the opening track Ride into the Wind, guaranteed to take you to your “happy place”, to the powerful closing track Still Smiling, employing the unusual combination of slide guitar and piano along with Bev’s haunting vocals that may take you to a Kate Bush concert, the album is a brilliant offering of enormous musical creativity and compelling songwriting.

Album Notes
Bev's stage debut was singing early blues classics in a Delta Blues duet. She has led a retro rock band; played with a vibrant djembe drum group; and performed for a decade as a sultry jazz vocalist.

Lifelong devoted yoga practitioner,  adventurous world traveller, and award winning language and literature teacher, Bev eventually channelled her extensive experience and talent into writing songs to inspire social conscience, connection, and compassion, performing her music - guitar in hand - at numerous benefit concerts, and releasing four albums of original material. Bev has been recognized for her community involvement and contribution to the arts with a YWCA Woman of Distinction in the Arts Award.

Having completed her teaching career in 2013, Bev now divides her time between travel, yoga and language study in Indonesia, writing, playing her guitar, and generously sharing her music at home and abroad. In her fourth album, Standing on a platform of KINDNESS, Bev has drawn entirely from the prolific, talented pool of artists in her community of Regina, Canada.

Bev Zizzy is an acoustic soul singer / songwriter with something to say, drawing from a lifetime of diverse and profound experiences, and a voice with which to say it well. Her smoky vocal delivery is intense, innovative, and compelling, and her unmasked, insightful, stories memorable, engaging, and uplifting.
