ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Joel Bidderman’s “A Prelude to Tomorrow” (2007) is a refreshing, engaging musical tapestry which weaves together the simplicity of acoustic instruments with poetic lyrics. The concept of the album showcases songs written primarily at night, but are also inspired by the truth that every day and prayer draws us closer to the return of Jesus Christ. The songs are grounded in intimacy with Christ and a longing to know Him more. The recording was done completely “organically”, meaning, it was done without pickup electronics (unplugged). All of the music from guitar, to vocals, bass, percussion, etc, were all recorded through microphones. The songwriting also digs down to the folk artist’s musical roots of jazz and blues, while it contemplates the reality and mystery of a human heart's relationship with its Creator.

Over the years of playing concerts, Joel has opened for names such as Dana Key (DeGarmo & Key) and Shaded Red, has played venues on university campuses from the University of Hawaii to the University of Florida, has played coffee houses of every shape and size, has spoken to and played for churches, youth groups and High Schools, and in 2005 Joel led worship at the One Thing-Atlanta youth conference.

One of the defining characteristics of Joel's concerts is the stories that he tells. Transparent, light-hearted and meaningful, Joel views his music as the soundtrack of his life and reflection of the ebbs and flows of his spiritual journey. Encouraging and provocative, Joel’s music and message invites its listeners to live life with passion and meaning.
