Album Notes
The Big Takeover is a high energy sextet, with a refreshingly upbeat, yet groove oriented, party-making approach to interpreting the Jamaican tradition of rocksteady, ska and reggae music. Formed in the funky college town of New Paltz, NY in 2007 and named after bassist Rob Kissner and drummer Sam Tritto's proclivity for commandeering the stereo at campus parties, this band of self taught musicians has acquired a habit of making audiences look, listen and dance. They have shared the stage with; The Original Wailers, Jefferson Starship, Sam Kinninger from Soulive, Pete Seeger, Badfish, Taurrus Riley, Eek-a-Mouse, Groundation,West Bound Train, Norma Fraiser, The Pietasters, Tarrus Riley, Inner Vision, Inner Circle, The Meditations, Sister Nancy and Gandalf Murphy and The Slambovian Circus of Dreams. With over 300 live performances in the Northeast, ranging from Maine to North Carolina and a studio album (Following Too Close-2008) behind them, Rob Kissner, Sam Tritto, Chas Montrose (saxophone), Andrew Vogt (Trombone), guitarist Jon Klenck and Jamaican born and raised front woman NeeNee Rushie look forward to what their 2010 release Tale of My Life will lead them to.
