ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
"BiiJ: But is it Jazz?" are a new (2017) female vocal led UK jazz combo performing fresh modern sounding original jazz tunes with more than a strong influence from 1930's, 40's, and 50's show tune classics.

The band features saxophones and digital aerophone, piano, double bass, and drums, and this, their debut album "Oh Silly Me" (December 2017), features 7 different lead vocalists across 19 tracks, creating a rich palette of tonal and stylistic variance.

Songs vary from up-tempo foot-tapping swing numbers such as "Simplicity Felicity" and their children's charity single "A Frog In The Bell", to dreamy jazz ballads including "I Never Saw You Coming" and title track "Oh Silly Me", along with Latin Jazz tracks like "Away" and "Loveliness" to give a real depth of style and emotional content. Also, don't miss their dreamy and rather Christmassy track "At Number 3" which comes in 2 variants on this album; an abridged radio edit, and an extended album version featuring a very stylish additional piano solo.

Expect short jazzy intros, stylish vocals, clever and sophisticated lyrics and melody, plenty of improvisation including some masterful piano solos, and songs littered with gorgeous vocal ad-libs and embellishments from some of the UK's up and coming young female vocalists.

BiiJ: But is it Jazz? have ensured that the focus is very much on great jazz melody and lyrics, to create accessible songs that will get stuck in your head, whilst transporting you back to the golden age of jazz.

Songwriting and production proceeds (after tax deductions) from "A Frog In The Bell" single downloads will go to charity "BBC Children In Need" to support children living with terminal illness and poverty both in the UK and globally, from launch of the track in December 2017, until December 31st 2018. 10% will be donated from full album sales.

More band and song information including lyrics will be available at www.biij.uk
