Album Notes
Bill Geezy and The Promise Breakers

Great songs, virtuoso musicianship and beautifully blended harmony vocals-Bill Geezy and the Promise Breakers is the real deal!

Bill Geezy, backed by a stellar group of musicians, Clint Hoover, Craig Gallas and David Bille perform from Bill's critically acclaimed original works.
Bill's style of songwriting is fashioned around the age-old premise: Moving stories and great melodies touch your heart and stay on your mind.
Bill has been blessed with the good fortune of having great singers, such as Kate MacKenzie and Emmylou Harris sing his songs. He co-wrote with Kate, The Age of Innocence (Red House Records), which became the title song of her popular Grammy-nominated C.D. Sing Out Folk Magazine chose to publish the Age of Innocence as one of its featured songs.
Along with the Age of Innocence, Bill Geezy and The Promise Breakers perform original songs, a handful of classic covers, and an occasional spontaneous song about whatever pops into Bill's head. Leaving no time to think, Bill's handmade "on the spot" songs keep the band on its toes and are guaranteed to delight their audience. You will laugh and you may cry; occasionally you'll scratch your head, and ask," Did he really say that?" Trust yourself--he probably did.

Quotes About Bill Geezy and The Promise Breakers

"One of the folk scene's underrated veterans, Bill Geezy, recalls the wit and gritty soul of John Hiatt"
Chris Riemenschneider, Music Critic for Minneapolis Star Tribune

"From the country-dance jam "WM seeking WF," to the blues-tinged "Shelbyville," Bill Geezy and the Promise Breakers' songs whir and chug like a train passing through the Southern swamplands. Geezy and Co. keep the lonely country landscape interesting with rich stories, warm vocals and Hoover's exploding harmonica bursts. You can almost feel the humidity and taste the country grit."
Molly Priesmeyer, Music Critic for Saint Paul Pioneer Press

"Bill Geezy's album is loaded with great roots-rock!"Top Ten in How The Critics Voted, Tom Surowicz, Minneapolis StarTribune

"I love it, I love it, I love it!"
Kate MacKenzie, Grammy Nominated RedHouse Recording Artist

"Slide across the ox-blood colored, padded leather seats - tucked behind the round tables of the Orchid Lounge and order up a tall glass of Southwestern Blues. Bill Geezy & the Promise Breakers are headlining tonight and they're not going to disappoint you. Clint Hoover's harp is a perfect compliment to the grass roots sound of Bill Geezy's vocals. The last thing you'll want to say is, 'Check please'."This thing just simply grows on you. You hear it once and you're saying, 'Hey, that's different.' You hear it twice and the lyrics start repeating themselves in your head. It starts taking over and you find yourself singing along... By the third go'round, you're thinking about heading to Arizona or Nevada or some lonesome border town just to see if you can find the Orchid Lounge. Whew! is it Hot in here?"
CD Review /The Best Li'l Harp House"

"Bill's voice has a very rustic blues sound. This is a great Americana/Country album."
Greg Jackson, Acoustic Rainbow/Poetman Records

The Promise Breakers Are:

Clint Hoover: Harmonicas and Back-Up Vocals
Clint is one of the leading masters of the Diatonic and Chromatic Harmonicas--on this or any planet.
Clint is listed in the Encyclopedia of Harmonica and has garnered
glowing reviews for all his work, most notably, his Jazz CD Dream of the Serpent Dog and the popular Take Your Time Mr. Brown by the jug band influenced Sugar Kings. Clint receives high praise from virtually all that have heard him work his magic. His ability to shift from one style to another has made Clint a sought after studio session player. Clint has toured extensively throughout the United States and Europe in concert, at festivals and on radio and T.V. As a founding member of The Sugar Kings, a gigging jazz instrumentalist, studio pro and harmonica educator Clint has made an indelible impact on the Upper Midwest music scene.

"...Sterling harmonica wizard..
-Jim Musser, Iowa City Press-Citizen

"Clint plays harp the way Picasso paints.."
-Dale King, Harmonica player,Germany

"Hoover stands out, ranking right up there in the small fraternity of harmonica players (Jean "Toots" Thielman, Hendrik Meurkens, Howard Levy)."
-Bob Protzman, St. Paul Pioneer Press

Craig Gallas: Drums and Back-Up Vocals
Craig's experience as a drummer reads like a Who's Who? of American musicians. He has graced the stage with the likes of Bobby Vee, Bo Diddley, Leslye Gore, and Jack McDuff just to mention a few.
Craig's rock-steady rhythm infused with an innate sense of color and flourish brings the perfect combination of drive and gentle control to The Promise Breakers. Craig can also be heard on his most recent recording; Joe Julliano's Fighting The Blues

Dave Bille: Lead and Rhythm Guitars and Back-Up Vocals
Dave's warm finger-style guitar playing brings to mind such guitar greats as Mark Knopfler, Peter Green and Jerry Reed. His thoughtful backdrops of sonic ear candy are drawn from a palette of passion and pure pop pleasure.
Dave is an accomplished songwriter in his own rite. Having penned many fine songs of his own, he is also the co-writer of several songs with Bill, one of which, The Orchid Lounge, is featured on their début release.

On their new release, The Orchid Lounge, Bill Geezy and The Promise Breakers, (Corn Squeezin's Records) offer up a soulful batch of twelve heart-felt, handmade songs that demand repeated regular listening.
It's a good thing this ain't on vinyl, cause you'd be wearing out the grooves.
