Album Notes
San Francisco based blues guitarist; Bill Phillippe has spent the last twenty years playing guitar and singing all over the San Francisco bay area performing at neighborhood taverns, hipster cafes, jazz lounges, blues clubs, and the legendary Fillmore poster room. His new release "Ghosts" is a haunting collection of original compositions and 1920's acoustic blues evoking the spirit of the Mississippi Delta. With the stripped-down instrumentation of vocals and acoustic guitar and a visceral recording approach, Bill’s guitar playing and singing conjures the Ghosts of the Delta.
Anyone who enjoys the melodious finger-picking of Mississippi John Hurt or the fevered intensity of Blind Willie Johnson will love this CD. Bill’s original compositions explore blues-approved themes of life, love and loss.

“Bill Phillippe plays, sings and writes more like he’s from the Mississippi Delta or the Crescent City than the Bay Area. His guitar skills are especially fine, trotting out an array of greasy licks that sway and soar”
