Album Notes
Happy Accidents, the latest Billy Jonas recording, is funky folk music for the whole family. It’s musical medicine for the mind body and spirit of young and old alike. It’s a splendiferous sonic sojourn into the near and far reaches of fun and fantasy, possibility and purpose, word-play, wonder, heart, and hope.

The 18 songs feature 13 originals and 5 adaptations of traditional tunes, all destined to inspire and inform. For instance, “Eyes Wide Open,” “You are Not Alone,” “Get There,” and “Open Sesame” each provide a different ‘musical map’ for navigating challenging situations; “To Be One” and “Hollow Bamboo” enliven the soul; “Cabeza” teaches Spanish; “Happy Accident” explores four mistakes with wonderful outcomes; and “What Kind of Dog are You?!,” “Vitamin Alphabet,” “Knock Knock,” and “One Tutu too Many” are just plain FUN question-answer songs that invite the listener to guess-along and sing along.

The arrangements include Jonas’ trademark homemade “re-percussion’’ drum set, as well as a glorious panoply of found sounds (rubber bands, body percussion, door squeaks, apple cider jugs), exotic kalimbas and marimbas, conventional instruments (guitars, bass, piano, banjo, accordion, tuba) and 2-, 3-, 4-, and 5-part vocal harmonies.

The finale of the CD is the Wake Up Suite,” a series of 5 songs that trace a young person’s morning rituals. Jonas and an 8-year-old friend sing duets designed to be easily learned and re-sung, to help families move their morning process along with as much fun as possible. The pieces include "Gotta Get Up," "Two Minute Shower," "Eat Something!" "Brush Your Teeth," and "Totally Ready to Go."

Happy Accidents is Jonas’ 7th recording, and his 2nd “family” CD. Built on a foundation of voice and percussion, with strong, memorable melodies, it has something for everyone, regardless of age. It was recorded over the course of a year, primarily in Asheville, NC, with the help of co-producers Bill Melanson (from The Billys) and Adam Johnson.

Happy Accidents features more than 40 local musicians and a host of nationally and internationally renowned co-conspirators, including David Wilcox, Moira Smiley, The Fire Cracker Jazz Band, Secret Agent 23 Skidoo, River Guerguerian, Don Porterfield, Jake Wolf, Ashley Farmer, and Eliot Wadopian.

Happy Accidents
Another great CD, swiftly delivered to the UK. The children all love it as well.

Can you give more than 5 stars?
another fabulous album by Billy Jonas. So fun it has to be played really loud at our house to drown out all of my children. Super clean, super silly, totally happy, totally Billy Jonas.

Happy Accidents
My children have already memorized it! We especially love "What kind of dog are you?". We enjoy seeing Billy Jonas in concert every summer and love having his CDs to listen to in between shows.

Happy Accidents
We saw Billy in concert in November and heard many of the new songs. We could hardly wait for this to come out! We all love it as much as his other children's/family CDs. Keep them coming!

Music for the family
My 4-year-old daughter and I LOVE this CD. Entertaining for adults and children. We heard "What kind of dog are you?" on satellite radio, and I enjoyed it so much that I had to buy it. The Knock knock song is one of our favorites, as is Cabeza. This is our first Billy Jonas CD.

Sarah Morris

My 5 year old loves this CD, she listens to it over and over, especially One Tutu Too Many and the knock knock song, and I enjoy it also. I like the gentle, positive messages and catchy tunes.

Happy Accidents
We like most of the songs .... love a couple of them ... and not-so-much on a couple. If you like Billy Jonas' other CDs, you will like this one as well. Bottomline -- I am very happy I bought this.

Happy, Happy Accidents
Who came to camp? BILLY JONAS!

Beautiful, silly, happy music by a really wonderful guy. I am a teenager and I love it, and would recommend this CD to anyone, especially for kids.

me and my little ones first learned of Billy Jonas about 2 years ago at our local library during family storytime. Bear to the left was a favorite of the librarian and we borrowed the "What kind of cat are you?" cd and it has been on constant rotation in the car and on the boys' (6 year old and 4 year old) mp3 players that they got for Christmas. We saw him live in our area (and my 4 year old and I got to accompany Billy with the mustard and tambourine - I am the tambourine diva - respectively) and plan on playing hooky from school and work next month (shhh! don't tell anyone) to see him again. We love being a part of the "bang a bucket" brigade. You won't be disappointed with this purchase. WE LOVE YOU BILLY JONAS!!!!
