Album Notes
Dear Friends, First and foremost thank you not only for picking up my CD but going to the considerable inconvenience of removing the shrink wrap or in this case reading about it on site. Otherwise we wouldn’t be able to have this conversation. What you hold in your hands represents audio snapshots from the past three decades of my life. The oldest song ‘Dream Weaver’ was written in 1984 when I was 27, and the most recent ones, ‘A Brand New Wedding Song’ and ‘You’re A No Brainer’ (lyrics by Tom Toce), were written in 2015. In the 31 in-between years, there are songs about all kinds of love, friendship, drinking, my beloved Mrs. Parker, and a little piano piece I wrote when we lost our great Himalayan pussy cat, Olan. Whenever we couldn’t find her, if we sang Noel Coward’s “I’ll See You Again”, she would pop up from wherever she was hiding. Hence: ‘For Olan.’ As I listened to this CD I was reminded of something Kurt Vonnegut said about his novel, ‘Slapstick’:
“It is about what life feels like to me.” I would say the same thing about this disc.
I want to thank my family, especially Lynne and Alexandra, for too many reasons to count; all my friends at The Mark Janas Salon produced by Tanya Moberly-a lot of these songs had their first hearing there because every Sunday night they allow works in progress to progress. A huge shout out to dear friend Marissa Mulder for duetting with me on “What The Hell It’s Christmas’.
And last but absolutely not least, huge thanks to my dear friend and colleague, the always helpful and brilliant Chip Fabrizi and PPI Recording for engineering, co-producing, being the first set of ears, and playing drums on a lot of these tunes. Chip, you are the indispensable man and this wouldn’t have happened without you.
If you’re still curious about these songs I leave you with this from John Irving’s ‘The World According To Garp’: “All of it and none of it is true.”
Thanks for listening.

For my Parents.
