ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
The rhythms of Candomble and Afro-Brazilian music have left their mark on music styles around the world. Many popular styles in the US, Europe, and elsewhere can trace their roots back to Africa and the African diaspora: samba, pagode, batuque, lambada, fricote, samba-reggae, carimbo, funk, reggae, rap, and so forth.

The music on this album takes from both the Ketu and the Jeje branches of Candomble, and their powerful rhythms -- performed by a master practitioner -- are used on a daily basis to call the Orixas to do their work.
