ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Birdchange is the project of musician & songwriter Rafael Machuca, hailing from San Gabriel, CA.

"Ever since he was a little tater tot, Rafael would spend hours on his Yamaha PSS-20 mini keyboard, curiously figuring out songs that he heard on the Looney Toons, video games, and movies. Years later he would pickup the guitar and apply the same amount of focus, energy, and dedication to the instrument as he did way back then.

As his skills developed, he started exploring the elusive world of song writing and soon began connecting with something bigger.

In the electric company of great musicians and friends, Charles Elder (Bass & Wisdom) and Daniel "Mucho" Velasco (Drums & Debauchery), Rafael continued to solidify his skills as a guitarist, songwriter, recordist, and now out of necessity, a singer. In this band, Electric Soul Co., he kept pushing into new sonic territory that would eventually lead to Birdchange.

In this new musical incarnation, Rafael dabbles in the art of shedding genre and expectations while leaving doubt behind. Continuing the spirit of curiosity & tenacity that first drove him as a kid, he decided to take up playing the drums, opening an entirely new world of rhythm & texture.

The connection that he had made into that elusive world of true songwriting remains, till this day, an open line. A sort of window into a sonic dimension of creative energy that helps transcend limitations and in the end, leads to something more pure."
