Album Notes
BJ Blue teams up with songstress Brittany Allyn to sing “Déjà vu X 2”. This collection of smash hits from the past must be heard in this Acoustic Bluegrass setting to be appreciated. BJ & Brittany once again deliver yesterday’s classics as today’s classic Duets. Mega Hits like “Nobody’s Business”, “Goin’ To The Chapel”, When A Man Loves A Woman”, and We’ve Never Been This Far Before” become new and exciting all over again. It’s “DÉJÀ VU X 2”.

Each of these songs was truly a classic in its own time and may well be a classic again, only this time as a Duet. BJ & Brittany have the knack for finding just the right DUET treatment for each of these tunes and bringing then into the fold as Bluegrass Masterpieces.

Two time Grammy Award recipient, BJ Blue’s singing style has been termed “STONE COLD COUNTRY THAT ROCKS”. His music covers everything from Bluegrass to Mainstream Country to Redneck Rock. As a writer, BJ has penned tunes for such major artists as Buck Owens and Emmylou Harris, Gene Watson and Merle Haggard. BJ & Brittany bring an exciting new sound to the world of Bluegrass – Americana – Country.

Brittany Allyn is a multi-talented artist whose talents have served her well. Her vocals know no boundaries, having recorded Country, jazz flavored country/blues and now Bluegrass. Her voice seems to be at home in any style of music as it resonates with fans of all genres. Her crystal clear sound and heartfelt approach to “Déjà Vu X 2” only proves it all the more. Her earliest musical influences include: Dolly Parton, Sarah Vaughn , Patti Page, Patsy Cline and Emmylou Harris. Not many folks are hired on a daily basis to support the efforts of national recording acts on major labels. When they do hire someone, it’s because they know they’ve got the goods and can deliver. Such a person is Brittany Allyn. She’s toured and/or recorded as a background vocalist with artists including George Jones, Lorrie Morgan, Toby Keith and has also done background vocals on various television shows and specials with the likes of Willie Nelson, Alison Kraus and Steven Tyler and Joe Perry of Aerosmith.

As each track of “Déjà vu X 2” unfolds, the listener is lead to believe more and more that these classic songs have just been waiting for BJ Blue and Brittany Allyn – two naturals doing what comes naturally.

“Nobody’s Business” was a monster Pop / Country Crossover for Tennessee Ernie Ford and Kay Starr back in the late 1940s. Its “man / woman theme” still resonates today with anyone who’s been there, done that … which truly includes us all.

“Mr. Man In The Moon” walks the line between a Bluegrass Classic and a Country Smash. Originally delivered by Patty Loveless, the Duet treatment by BJ & Brittany truly takes it into a new dimension. Easily accessible by followers of either style.

“Boogie Grass Band” is about as much fun as you can have with your clothes on. This one is right at home as a BJ & Brittany fun song. What theme in the world of music is more universal that that of a family band.

“Let’s Fall To Pieces Together” is one of many George Strait classics which will most likely never die. This is one of those tunes that has NEVER BEEN A DUET and yet not one word had to be changed to make it happen, but the trading back and forth of the lines between one man and one woman make it a much more powerful song. This tune happens to be Brittany’s favorite George Strait song and she loves to sing waltzes … so here it is just for you.

“Cash On The Barrelhead” is an absolute masterpiece as delivered by the incomparable Louvin Brothers, the writers of the song. Charlie and Ira Louvin were The Everly Brothers of their day and were truly loved by all. To this day when there is talk of sibling harmony or anointed singing invariably the Louvin Brothers are pointed out as a first generation case in point. The fun and spontaneity of this song as well as the close sibling style harmony are evident in BJ & Brittany’s rendition.

“Someone I Used To Know” - Jack Clement is both a pioneer and a treasure to the music of America and the world at large. He wrote many of Johnny Cash’s early hits and engineered and produced the sessions which produced those hits. His song “Someone I Used To Know” has been recorded by the best of the best. George Jones, Porter & Dolly, ……………….. and now BJ & Brittany. It is heartfelt. It is soulful and it stands the test of time. You can’t ask much more from a song than that.

“Queen Of The Silver Dollar” was penned by the Twistable, Turnable genius by the name of Shel Silverstein. Shel penned “A Boy Named Sue” for Johnny Cash”, “The Winner” for Bobby Bare and “Queen Of The Silver Dollar” for Dave & Sugar among his many many many fantastic songs. BJ & Brittany have captured the essence of this one in its entirety. The story line. The toe tapping tempo and the wonderful harmony … it’s all there.

“WE’VE NEVER BEEN THIS FAR BEFORE” – the sensuality of this song is foremost as BJ & Brittany look each other eye to eye and sing “And Heaven knows We’ve Never Been This Far Before” This song was written by and originally recorded by the great Conway Twitty. If ever a man knew about sensuality, the effect of a man/woman song and love, it had to be Conway Twitty. As noted in many of the above, the only thing that could possible take it to a new level is it being rendered by a Man & Woman DUET.

“Help Me Make It Thru The Night” is the timeless Kris Kristofferson classic originally done by the one hit wonder Sammi Smith. A great song is a great song is a great song. It doesn’t care who sings it or what style it is delivered in. Once a thoroughbred always a thoroughbred and “Help Me Make It …” is no exception. Once again the Duet treatment with the back and forth interplay between a man and a woman takes the intimacy of the song into the bedroom and into your heart … it’s awesome.

“Goin’ To The Chapel” – in the earliest days of Rock’n’Roll there was a wonderful songwriting team of Jeff Barry and Ellie Greenwich. They created hit after hit for the girl groups of the 60’s. Another time traveler of that period was a musical genius by the name of Phil Spector whose creations became known as “The Wall of Sound”. When the three combined their talents they came up with a song which knocked The Beatles out of the NUMBER ONE spot on the charts in 1964. That song was “Goin’ To The Chapel” a/k/a “The Chapel of Love”. In an effort to please all their fans with a never ending variety of classics, BJ & Brittany have brought the innocence and charm of a by-gone era to the listener with this tune.

“When A Man Loves A Woman” – Percy Sledge will forever be known for this song. The only thing that possibly take it to a new level is a DUET approach. When listening to BJ & Brittany on this one you can’t help but feel bond between these two hearts.

“So Into You” was a monster hit for the super group The Atlanta Rhythm section in the mid 80’s. Who knew it was destined to be a great groove song just right for Bluegrass picking. Here we get a hint of the soulful side of BJ & Brittany as we cruise along to the soulful groove.

"Suspicious Minds" is the biggest selling song of Elvis Presley's Career ... which instantly says it's one of the most loved songs in the world. Once again the power of the DUET approach makes this a stellar choice as a BJ & Brittany Classic. It is truly amazing how "right at home" a song like this can feel when done in true Bluegrass Style. You Gotta Love It! ENJOY!

Yes, Déjà Vu X 2 truly is Déjà Vu x 2. Get your copy and get one for your friends. They will THANK YOU … THANK YOU VERRRRRY MUCH. It’s the GOOOOOOOD STUFF!
